Fantasy Shopping: Net-a-Porter

Do you ever do that thing where you look at a shopping website and fill up your shopping cart with all of the things you’d buy if you were rich, allowing yourself just a few short minutes where you allow yourself to pretend that you have the kind of lifestyle in which you’d:

a) Be able to afford them all

b) Have a reason to wear them

We do. We’re possibly alone in this, but just in case we’re not here’s what we fantasy bought from the New In section at Net-a-Porter this week:

Belted cotton and silk-blend trench coatDonna Karan Belted cotton and silk-blend trench coat, £2,065
Everyone needs a camel coat, don’t they?

Jason Wu Lace-appliquéd silk-radzmir dressJason Wu Lace-appliquéd silk-radzmir dress, £3,880
In our fantasy world, we’d wear this to tea with the queen. We’d also look a lot like Grace Kelly. Hey, we DID say it’s a fantasy world…

belted plum dressLa Petite S*****’s belted stretch-crepe dress, £790
It’s not black, it’s plum. It would be our Little Plum Dress.

Full-skirted stretch wool-blend dress
Zac Posen Full-skirted stretch wool-blend dress, £1,435
Nicer than it looks, we promise.

Fantasy Shopping Total:
 £8,170

Good job it was just a fantasy, huh?

Sadly, a friend & I once did this with the Lakeland website and racked up over 2 grand each. I never thought of myself as someone who cares about kitchen gadgets and home furnishings but apparently I am.

That coat is utterly, utterly beautiful. I wouldn’t need a reason to wear it other than to admire myself in the mirror, all day long.

Oh, I do that all the time… 🙂 My budget is mostly tighter than tight, so I allow myself that little pleasure of pretending that I’m not just a poor student with a part time job. And I adore that Jason Wu dress!

These clothes that you bought are absolutely stunning. So classy and so chic!! I go online window shopping all of the time. I use my polyvore account to find all of the clothes online that I wish I could afford but really can’t. So I just play around with them on Polyvore and pretend that I can actually wear the outfits that I create!

People have called me crazy for doing this, so I am so glad to know that I’m not the only one! And all those clothes are gorgeous.

I love to do virtual shopping!
I “shop” for myself — and even for my daughters.

I absolutely must “buy” that Zac Posen!
