Dress of the Day: Dior belted ‘Madonne’ dress

Dior-madonne-dressThis dress falls into the "So expensive it makes our eyes water" category, but it was one of Bergdorf Goodman's "Best Dress" list for Spring, so we thought we'd give it its moment as Dress of the Day, too.

It's by Dior, which does help to explain the $3,450 price tag, if not to completely excuse it. We love the draped detail at the front, the little nipped-in waist, accentuated by the belt, and the narrow pencil skirt.

It's one of those dresses that looks like it belongs in a black-and-white movie, but the bright red colour helps give it a bit of added interest, too.

If you like it, and aren't put off by the price, you can buy it at Bergdorf Goodman.

I’m not really liking this dress. The top is lumpy and drapes oddly, though maybe it’s just the model’s awkward posture.

Fashion police, you made a typo: “So expemsive it makes our eyes water”
    Expensive, not expemsive.
I don’t really like this dress, I agree with Celeste.

I can’t believe this one isn’t a universal favourite! It’s so chic and striking. I do wish the model would stand up straight and let it hang properly, but even as it is, the dress is absolutely sweet.

Christ on a boat, typos happen, and I’m pretty sure the Fashion Police knew that the correct spelling of ‘expemsive’ is indeed ‘expensive’.
As for the dress, I like it. The draped bow is unusual. I’m not 100% sure on the belt, it looks a little plastic-y; not that there’s anything wrong with plastic, but I like metal hardware.

    The Fashion Police

I do indeed know how to spell “expensive” – as Mousy says, sometimes typos happen, it’s one of the downsides of being human 🙂

I don’t think this dress would work on anyone who isn’t totally flat-chested. So, no, I don’t like it.

I love it, and sort of hope the belt isn’t actually plastic, or in the fantasy land where I could afford this sort of thing I’d do the same as Mousy.

Okay Fashion Police – just a simple correction! 😀

Why are you laughing at the correction, A Woman? You seem very determined to make a big deal out of a simple typo: why?

Oh, Amber, I’m not determined to make a big deal out of it. I was simply giving telling Fashion Police that there was a typo there.
I never stated that the FP couldn’t spell, merely pointing out a simple mistake. Apologies to those (including FP) that thought I was insulting their spelling skills.
