Dior’s cutout wedge sandals are… interesting

Dior_cutout_wedge_2

When is a wedge not a wedge? When it’s really just a stiletto that looks like it’s started to unravel at the bottom, of course…

There’s just no getting away from unusual shoes at the moment, and these cutout wedge sandals by Dior are the latest slightly strange shoes to come to our attention. Although we love the combination of purple and gold, which is a Fashion Police favourite, we think these would’ve been a whole lot better if they’d just decide whether they want to be wedges or stilettos. Make a decision and commit to it, Dior, rather than giving us this halfway house which is neither one thing nor the other.

What do you think of these babies? Worth paying $925 for, ya think?

Well, the thing about this shoe is, the artistry is so much better than most “unusual” shoes. It’s graphic, it has tension (note how the “wedge” strip seems to be tautly wrapped around the heel), it’s beautiful and eye-catching, it is all design (no added frills, bedazzlers, etc…) and it looks genuinely comfortable and wearable. No question, here…this is a beautiful shoe. If I had the means, I would want to own it.

I LOVE thise shoes! While I don’t have $925 to spend on them, I would wear them if I could. I love how the shoe is designed using blank spaces (the cutouts and the space between the heel and the bottom of the shoe). Like gokarm, I love how the shoe doesn’t have any frills or ribbons – it is simply a beautiful design.

These would be so beautiful if they didn’t have that wedge bit, or if it was a true wedge.

Absolutely horrid! Wouldn’t wear them to save my life! Michael Kors did the cutout wedge thing as well (called Danger), but his are wearable and pretty.

Not only is it a stiletto and a wedge, but it’s also a bootie! My head is spinning with confusion.

These seem to be real opinion-dividers, then. I can definitely see what those of you who love them are saying, but there’s still something about them that makes me want to remove the bit at the bottom, somehow. Not a crime of fashion, by any means, but just not my style, I guess.

Those are really really nasty, not to mention impracticle. I don’t know why but they look like could cause you to have an accident.
