Designer Vs High Street: Alexander McQueen’s armadillo shoe inspires its first lemming in the LF Tribute

Few have been bold enough to wear Alexander McQueen’s armadillo shoes (only Gaga comes to mind) and even fewer have been bold enough to imitate the unwearable style. Enter LF, Jeffrey Campbell’s accessories line. The shoe will be available in stores in July, and a portion of the proceeds will go to a charity in honor of Alexander McQueen. But where will these proceeds come from – who will buy this shoe? It appears to be even more oddly shaped than the original and made of not-so-expensive looking velvet.

They look like a handy pair of shoes to have in case your foot got stung by something you’re allergic to and swelled up to three times its size…then you’d be able to wear these shoes!

I don’t get it, is there a ton of room around your foot so it’s floating around the shoe or is there padding inside? Either way, I wouldn’t wear them. I like my feet to not look double their size.

I think there’s padding inside. If you look at beige armadillos, you’ll clearly see it.

Those don’t look like shoes.. too bad they dropped the heel for a wedge. But I’m sure we’ll see those on some bloggers))

The big problem is the outside shape. The original shoe makes you look like a ballet dancer standing on the very tip of her toes all the time. Exotic but elegant in a way and definitely an eyecatcher.
The others just make you look as if you have club feet. And that’s nothing anybody ever wanted. And the people around you will probably not look at your feet in amazement (as they did with the “armadillos”), but look away from them as it’s rude to stare at another persons disability.

It’s great! You could put googly eyes on it, paint on some teeth, and have a shark head container for a child’s room. Because I cannot actually see this as a shoe.
The other pair just looks horrifically painful.

I love Amee’s idea! Definitely better use for this than as a shoe.

Wtf? The original McQueen shoes were awesome. The Jeffrey Campbell shoes might be slightly more walkable (from the looks), but they look like… I don’t even know what they look like. Like a big misshapen ball or something. Blehh.

Make em out of something less-cheap-looking and I’d have a go at them…. if they were super cheap.

i know gaga wore the McQ originals…so did kelis and i’m thinking daphne guiness as well…since all three of those women are rich i would imagine they could stick to the originals and avoid the suprisingly even uglier knock off versions…also i think gaga has moved on to crazy heelless shoes but that is a different post lol

Oh my God. These shoes look so.. Wel what am I saying, they don’t even look like shoes. THey won’t look flattering with anything. I know McQueen is all about the eccentric but this, seriously?I doubt that the people who wear them truly like them. I’m thinking they’re just doing it for the shock value.

I actually think they look really cool…..They look alot like hooves, which is interesting!
I don’t think I would buy them though, unless they turned out to be really comfortable. I love the way they look but they look like they would hurt my feet!

Call me crazy (“You’re crazy”) but I kinda like them. I love the Alexander McQueen ones, but in a weird way I love the Jeffrey Campbell ones too. I imagine they’d make you legs look tiny in comparison and I’ve always loved the big shoes/stick legs look.
