Daylight Robbery? Lanvin’s $500 straw hat

OK, is anyone else seeing a straw hat here? The kind you can buy for a few pounds at any one of many beach-side stalls, in any beach town in the world? Because we’re seeing an ordinary straw hat, here, folks, and so we’re REALLY wondering where the $520 price tag comes in here. Was the straw woven by angels? Is that chiffon bow (which you could add yourself to one of the aforementioned cheap straw hats for WAAAAY less than $520) shot through with solid gold? Or is this a classic example of Daylight Robbery, with helpless fashion victims being tricked into paying $520 for a STRAW HAT, just because “It’s LANVIN! It’s DESIGNER!”

We think it’s the latter. If you disagree, and you need that $500 hat in your life RIGHT NOW, click here to buy it.

As a kid, I used to get this kind of hat free at parades and carnivals!

I always wonder how somebody is supposed to know that such an ordinary item is not the cheap everyday version, but THE DESIGNER ITEM OMG!!!.
It’s the same with some T-shirts and sweatpants that have already been shown here. As long as there’s no label or writing on the item I will never know that somebody has paid a small fortune for it.
And even if I knew I would just shake my head and feel sorry for their idiocy…

Maybe it is fairy tale straw … that can be spun into gold for designers! Seriously, though, where would a fashion victim wear such a thing? For $500, not to the beach or a parade. But straw hat, so not with an evening gown, or out for a fancy dinner. Where??

at least it looks nice. I can imaging a cute girl wearing it pulling off the country girl look. but
i agree, the price is far from reasonable
