Cut it out: Marc Jacobs Acacia Jersey Cutout Dress

This Marc Jacobs Acacia Jersey Cutout Dress first came to our attention when we were rounding up cut-out dress suspects a couple weeks ago. Now, whenever we see it our confusion deepens. The bright pop of color with the bold black trim grabs your attention and seems to work, and the silhouette manages to sexily show off a girl’s shape without looking too tight. But then you see the cutouts. Which appear to be more a skirt and a top fastened together at a single point in the front (that’s right, check out the back view) rather than actual cut out portions of fabric. Problems of fashion aside, we feel this would present problems of engineering! But is it a crime of fashion?

I love this dress! Love the vibrant blues with the contrasting trims, princess shoulders and the poufiness of this dress is sexy but cute! I think the cutouts is not big enough to cause a problem. I give it two thumbs up:)

This sort of reminds me of that dress Julia Roberts wore at the beginning of Pretty Woman, but redone in high-concept. And the bagginess does not appeal. I like my things to fit properly and look that way, thanks.

The dress is no where near as bad as the shoes!

definitely looks like an 80s refurb – no where near flattering, sexy or necessary! but everyone makes mistakes, even marc jacobs!

Not a fashion crime on the under-30 and/or very slim and petite. The mystery is why is it styled with those shoes–brown flats with a turquoise-and-black dress? As an aside, for my personal style these days, I like the shoes much better than the dress.

I bought this dress for a wedding and everyone was like OMG I LOVE that dress. And then rolling off the tongue that it is Marc by Marc Jacobs, everyone was speechless.
