Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and Angel of Death to All Clothes, has been at it again: wearing clothes, and then prompting a complete shopping frenzy, as people all rush to buy exactly the same thing and look exactly like her. Clothes must shiver when they see her coming, no?
This time, Kate’s purchase sounded the death-knell for this brown Orla Kiely coat, which, according to the brand, sold out within minutes of the the Duchess’s appearance at Rose Hill Primary School in Oxford. For those who’re interested, Kate paired her coat with brown suede Aquatalia ankle boots, which she has – gasp! – been seen in before. We’ve no idea what she wore under the coat, though: whatever it was, it is presumably still available: for now…
Our spies spotted Halle Berry at The 31st Annual Silver Rose Gala this week, wearing this bright pink dress, with sparkly silver Christian Louboutin sandals:
If we knew how to wolf-whistle, we’d totally be whistling at Krysten Ritter right now.
When your dress is this simple, a lot of people would be tempted to go heavy on the accessories, or add a dash of colour with the shoes or handbag, but Krysten stuck to black, without a single adornment in sight. It’s a striking look, but do you want to take her and accessorize her? Or do you think this works perfectly well just the way it is?
Borrowed shoes never quite fit, do they? This is why so many actresses are forced to walk the red carpet in beautiful shoes that are either too big or too small: see, we think it’s all glamour being a celebrity, but they have their cross to bear too!
Aside from the gaping-at-the-back shoes, Heather Graham looked pretty in a form-fitting white dress with floral decoration at the 2nd Annual Bent on Learning Benefit last night. What do you think?
Short skirt? Check. Fierce heels? Check. Without even looking at the image, we’ve have been able to tell this was Gwyneth Paltrow , just from the description alone! She’s really made this kind of look her trademark over the past couple of years, and while it was initially a bit of a departure, we think it’s a look that really suits her. Well, if you have legs like Gwyneth’s you’re going to want to show them off, aren’t you? Gwyn also gains points for always abiding by the “legs OR boobs” rule: no low-cut dresses here – or at least not while her legs are out!
Bad hair day, Melissa George? This would certainly be one way to solve it, but somehow we think this is more style-statement than anything else. Or perhaps she just had really cold ears?
It’s fairly unusual to see hats worn to formal events these days, so what do you think of this look from Melissa? Would you like to see more headgear on the red carpets of the world?
Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) fame, always looks to us like she’s just stepped right out of the pages of a fairytale. She has a style of dressing that’s just very “her”, and we have to admire her flair for the dramatic, which is exactly what we expect from our rock stars!
With that said, Florence IS wearing a lace “demi-shress” which can’t seem to make up its mind whether it’s a mini or a maxi. It would probably earn anyone else a Fashion Police citation, at the very least, but on Florence, well, it seems to work. Or does it?
Dresses that are the same colour as your skin are always going to be tricky to get right, but we actually really like this look on Rooney Mara, who has kept things pale and interesting here, but somehow manages NOT to look like she’s haunting the place. She’s also done a great job of picking out shoes: love those nude Louboutins!
We also rather like the idea of a sweet-and-innocent look like this being worn to the premiere of a horror movie! What do you think?
