Celebrity Fashion Moment of the Day: Leighton Meester in leather at Chanel Couture

Leighton Meester in a leather dress at Chanel Couture

This is technically a fashion moment of yesterday, but please don’t hold it against us: instead, just tell us what you think of Leighton Meester’s appearance at the Chanel Couture show wearing a leather, long-sleeved dress by – who else? – Chanel, and what look like Christian Louboutin peep toe boots.

Our first thought: man, she must have been sweltering!

Our second thought: It was possibly worth it, though: she looks fantastic.

What do you think of Leighton’s look?

Wow, she looks so much older with this hairstyle/makeup! But in a good way.
AH! Those shoes are gorgeous! I love the color combination and the buttons.
Well doesn’t her dress look comfortable. Long-sleeved leather? Really? In summer?
But she looks amazing, even though that dress/necklace combination is a bit OTT.

Wel, I think that she looks very elegant, but this outfit would be better toe wear during winter or at least fall, coz’ we all know how warm is leather, right ? And the necklace suits very well the whole look, and I guess I will look for something like this, but at much lower price !!!

One thing that I can’t understand about this girl is why she hasn’t done something to get rid of those HORRIBLE dark puffy bags under his eyes !!!! Yiakkkkkkk, she looks very tired and old, not like a fresh girl in her 22 or 23 years??? Maybe is in her genetics or she doesn’t sleep very well, but Gosh !!! that’s what surgery was created for !!!!!

Wow, what a rude comment. Maybe she was tired? Maybe that’s just what she looks like? She’s a young woman and she looks absolutely fine – it would be very sad if she felt pressured into having surgery just because of comments like this.

I’m 20 and I naturally have dark circles under my eyes. Sometimes they just show up. I don’t think she even looks like she has them here, she looks beautiful. I don’t think she looks at all like she requires any surgery!

Thanx a lot for your quick response to my comment.

In this world, we should be tolerant to the ideas of everybody. I have seen the way you critcize clothing, and I must say, it’s so creative, even though it’s no what we would call “a constructive critic”, but that’s the idea, to know what we have to say about outfits, makeup, looks, or whatever comes to the topic of the day.

This comment was just that, what I think, maybe it’s wrong, maybe it’s right, but it is my very personal way of seeing things.

In a blog dedicated to “crimes of fashion”, it’s a little bit contradictory the way you reply to my opinion, but, don’t take things this seriously, come on !!!

I live in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.

If you google my city, you will discover that we are in the middle of a natural disaster because of the hurricane “Alex”; a lot of people lost their houses, many bridges collapsed, and a complete town disappeared under the water; but you know what? this site is among the ones that I visit in order to make me smile before I leave home, because no matter what, we always have to find at least one reason to laugh.

Nevertheless I will keep this blog into my list of favorites, because I absolutely enjoy it, so, I hope you continue to keep it like an open window to learn about fashion, laugh about all style criminals and share our thoughts on these.

Honestly, I think there’s quite a big difference between saying you don’t like a particular dress, say, and saying a young woman needs plastic surgery because you don’t like her face. Clothes and people are not the same, and that’s why our comment policy asks people to criticize clothes, not people.

“In a blog dedicated to “crimes of fashion”, it’s a little bit contradictory the way you reply to my opinion, but, don’t take things this seriously, come on !!!”

Yes, it’s a blog about fashion: your comment wasn’t about fashion, you were bashing someone’s personal appearance, which is something she can’t help. We can choose what kind of clothes we wear: we can’t choose our faces.

“This comment was just that, what I think, maybe it’s wrong, maybe it’s right, but it is my very personal way of seeing things.”

Fair enough: and my response was what I think, and my very personal way of seeing things. If you want me to tolerate your opinion (which I have, by publishing your comment), you have to be able to tolerate mine in response.

She really does look amazing. I don’t think many people could pull this outfit off but she sure has! I agree with the others though about how this should have been worn in winter really – for her sake more than anyone else’s!

I love Leighton no matter what! I’m not a huge fan of this particular dress on her, but, hell, that girl knows how to wear Chanel! 🙂

I disagree about the necklace. It disrupts the line of the decoration on the dress and clashes color-wise. This dress would have stood alone, or with a huge gold pendant on a skinny chain.

I guess the leather makes it look exotic, but I’d prefer the dress in a different material.

Leighton’s style is usually a bit hit and miss, but she looks absolutely perfect here! I love this outfit to bits! I don’t even mind the open toe booties, and that’s saying a lot!
As for the rude comment about her face: please, she is amazingly beautiful… If she needs surgery, what should the rest of us, average people do, get a face transplant? Plus, if you think criticizing clothes and people is the same, think about it this way: which would offend you more – being told your dress is ugly, or your face?

Some people say she tries so bad at being “edgy” but I think she just got it here. It looks so good. The shoes, the make-up, the hair, the dress. She’s comfortable in it and it looks like it. So I approve of this look fervently hehe.
And I totally agree with Natasha about the rude comment. I’d rather have someone tell me my dress is ugly than my face. And Leighton looks stunning here.

There I was, thinking how pretty her make-up looked…

Anyway, yes I like the dress, but she should lose the necklace and bangles – they make it look too busy.

I think she looks fantastic. Exotic, but not ridiculous. That’s a hard look to achieve but she’s done it here.

There I was admiring her lovely eyeshadow and not even noticing those ‘bags’.

I love the whole outfit, but yes it does look like it would be warm!

Great how she pulls it off, I’m pretty darn sure not many people could wear such a dress and look adorable! Well done, Leighton!
