Star Style on Trial: Carla Bruni, first lady of France

Carla_bruni_2

Carla Bruni has a difficult style situation on her hands at the moment: how to make the world forget those pesky nude photos that will turn up as soon as you marry a president, and appear to be the perfect first lady of France during your first state trip to the UK?  Well, Carla here seems to have nailed it by taking the tried and tested route – dressing like Jackie O in flat black pumps, tailored Dior coat and kicky little cap. Tres chic, indeed, but what do you think of Madame Bruni- Sarkozy’s look? Just right for a presidents wife or a little too prim and proper for the former model?

I think it would have looked better with a jacket in a different cut. The jacket there is just too… long or blue or… its too something. But it is a very cute idea.
It looks too costume-y instead of a modern take on a classic look

love the coat, but the pumps should have been heels, and the cap is a little to ”flight attendant”

I think she looks great and the flats add a certain “zing” to the outfit. Pumps would be standard and boring. Plus, as mentioned on Manolos blog, even wearing flats she is much taller than Mr President, so…

Well, whatever she wears or however granny-style she goes, she still is the nude model for me…anyway, this outfit ain’t Jackie Kennedy. This is grandmother. Carla, you’re getting old, honey…
