Celebrity Style: Carey Mulligan in red Roland Mouret at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards

Carey Mulligan in a red dress and blue shoes

Most stars borrow clothes to wear on the red carpet, but Carey Mulligan either buys her own, or liked this red Roland Mouret number enough to borrow it twice, because this is the second time she’s worn it to an event recent.

(Pause to allow the fashionistas to clutch at their pearls and gasp in horror at the idea of wearing something TWICE, can you EVEN?)

We like it when celebrities wear things more than once – it’s what all the rest of us do, after all – but do you like the outfit, we wonder, specifically the combination of red dress and blue shoes? Tell us!

I’m normally a fan of Mouret, but this dress is just weird.

Given the black ribbon at the neckline I would actually have preferred if she had worn black shoes with it. (And maybe also a black belt.)
The dress itself is nice, although it’s a bit long for my taste.

I am not liking those blue shoes with the outfit but everything else is more than fine.

I love the outfit except the black ribbon. I would have gone with more classic neckline, a lower cut.
But the dress is pretty and the blue shoes work with it.

So: lose the ribbon and! change the flowers to white birds 🙂

The blue shoes stick out like a sore thumb, what in the world possessed her to wear them with this dress??? Everything else is lovely.

Love the dress. Black shoes would have been better, I think.

I think that she may have worn this dress twice because she just isn’t a huge fan of fashion. Look at how easily her hair is styled. The very minimal make up. She probably just thought to throw on a dress that evening rather than fret.

and why not? as a celebrity, you’re invited to a million and one of these events. I know I wouldn’t give two s**ts about dressing up so much, as much as I love fashion. And that goes for real life too – there are no rules other than looking presentable.

She wore it twice? Don’t you mean she REMIXED it?! Heh. Good on her, I say, and while the dress wouldn’t be to my taste I think she looks good in it 🙂
