Thank the Fashion Gods for Boden. At a time when it feels like half the world is either shivering in sub-zero temperatures, or being blown to bits by gale-force winds, their spring/summer 2014 collection, which launched online this week, is a breath of fresh air – and a reminder that better days are (hopefully) coming.
We had a lot of love for Boden’s last collection, and this latest one makes us wonder again how on earth we managed to ignore this brand for so long. Basically, if you love classic/preppy style (and we do), with a focus on polka dots and stripes (which we DEFINITELY) do, this is a great collection to check out. Here are just a few of our favourite things from it:
The statement ankle skimmers are available in a range of prints and patterns. The stripe version shown above isn’t online yet, but we’re assured they should be available soon. We’ll just keep hitting the “refresh” button until that happens…
The wool bistro crop, on the other hand, IS available now, and it’s a good thing, too, because we think the plaid print could work just as well with our winter wardrobes as they will in summer. (As an aside, we’re not sure if it’s an actual requirement to sit swinging your legs on a sofa when you wear these pants, but the evidence would suggest that it probably is…).
Distracted by the stripey shoes in the above photo? So were we:
They’re the pointed-toe slingbacks, they also come in a wide range of summery prints including polka dots and stripes, and will be a really easy way to inject a bit of fun into a basic outfit. Speaking of basic outfits…
It doesn’t get more basic than good ol’ pencil skirts, shirts, and stripe sweaters: or how about the classic ‘Audrey’ ponte dress:
We’ll stop there before we get too carried away, but you can check out the rest of the collection here: don’t forget to tell us what you think of it!
