Awards season is officially upon us! Last week we saw the top stars of television and film wearing all black to the 2018 Golden Globes to make a statement against sexual harassment. This week, red carpet fashion returned to the usual free-for-all at the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards. There were still a few stars who chose to wear black, but many others opted for pops of bright color. There were some major hits and definite misses! Check out our best and worst looks from the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards:
The Best of the Best
Sarah Hyland went with a classic ballerina-style dress, and we have literally zero complaints. From the pulled back hair to the red lips, the Modern Family star looks elegant and youthful.
It’s nearly impossible for Octavia Spencer to not look good. She looks stunning in this purple gown, with effortlessly tussled hair and minimal jewelry. Plus she’s sporting the best accessory of the night: that gorgeous smile!
We cannot handle this look on Angelina! We saw her sport black feathers at the Golden Globes, and now she’s rocking the winter white feathers at the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards. The asymmetrical hemline and silver heels make the look especially unique. We’re in love with everything about this.
We’ve got more feathers…and we’re A-Okay with it! From Angelina to Jaimie Alexander, it looks like feathers are a trend this year. The black feathers on the hemline of Jaimie’s dress give it a fun spin. We also love the rockstar hair style!
Samira Wiley broke our hearts when her character, Poussey, died on Orange is the New Black and now she’s breaking hearts again in this dress! The dark turquoise color is breathtaking and the silver heels peeking out underneath are perfection. We’re in love.
The Worst of the Worst
We love Allison Williams, but we don’t think this look would be Marnie Michaels Approved. The Get Out and Girls star’s gown has just way too much going on. It looks like she’s wearing a large, multi-colored doily.
Jessica Biel’s look is absolutely perfect…from the neck up. Her hair and makeup looks gorgeous, but the dress is a disaster. We think she’s going for an “abstract art” look, but let’s keep the abstract art in a museum.
Elisabeth Moss is having a great year so far with the success of The Handmaid’s Tale, and it’s definitely well-deserved. With that said, we hate this dress. We just hate it. The sheer material, the floral embellishments…we’re not into it at all.
Kate Bosworth usually makes flawless fashion choices, but this is not one of them. We love her hair and makeup, and the dress actually has potential if it didn’t have that huge thing on the front of it. What in the world is that thing?
Zoe Kazan is a beautiful girl, but this dress is not. What we have here is mesh, tulle, multi-colored polka dots and yellow sleeves. This is just way too much for one dress. We feel overwhelmed just looking at it!
