Balmain make a $9632.22 jumpsuit

balmain-jumpsuit

Quick question, readers: you can have this jumpsuit or, for roughly the same price, you can have a good quality second hand car.

Which would you choose?

(Those are slits at the knees for your legs to poke through, by the way. Not that we’re trying to influence you here in any way, you understand.)

We realise calling Balmain out for Daylight Robbery is a bit like describing Lady Gaga as “a tad eccentric”, but seriously: why do they think they can charge this much for their designs? It’s just a jumpsuit, for crying out loud! And sure, it has Swarovski crystals around the bodice, but even so: just. a. jumpsuit. Surely?

When it gets to that level I actually don’t think it’s about the clothes anymore, it’s more about making a statement on how wealthy/successful you are. If Balmain establish themselves as being something only the mega-mega-rich can afford, then there will be people out there prepared to pay big for it for that reason alone, regardless of whether the item of clothing is worth it .. or has anything to recommend it other than the label.

Yeah, see, if I ever want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a fashion item to show everyone I can, a JUMPSUIT that appears to have a DROPPED CROTCH with SPLITS DOWN THE LEGS and are TIGHT AT THE GOD DAMN ANKLES will not be my first choice.

Anyway, it will so be shoes.

Wow. Just wow. Give me the second-hand car any day over this overpriced monstrosity.
