The Balmain look for less with ASOS’s metallic shoulder pad top

balmain-style-top-asos

Balmain have a lot to answer for right now. Mostly shoulder pads and dresses that can be described using the phrase “futuristic”, to be honest.

Ever since Kate Moss wore THAT dress, though, the high street have been falling over themselves to see who can be most “inspired” by it. So far we think Asda are in the lead, but there have been a few other contenders for the crown too. As for ASOS.com, they’ve decided to go for a top rather than a dress (although we guess if you’re Katie Price, this could count as a dress…). It’s £28, and is shown here with a pair of wet-look leggings. So, would you wear it?

No, I wouldn’t. Purely because I can imagine the horrible lines the dress would show because I believe I can see the models nipples. It’s a horribly unflattering material.

I like the top. If I had something to wear it to, I would.

I absolutely love this look. I like it much better than the Balmain dress that Kate Moss wore.

I have to say that I like this top more than the Balmain or the Asda.

That said, you can clearly see the pressure lines her pants make on the front of that top. This is an extreme example of bodycon fashion.

    ^-.-^

    I actually don’t mind it – I don’t know if I’d buy it, but I don’t mind it.

Don’t mind it either, but I wouldn’t know for the life of me what occasion to wear something like this to. File this under “nice but useless”.

Nope! I would if I were ten years younger – but I’m 35 and it’s way too trashy for me. I’m definitely buying into the Balmain shoulder trend but in a classier way 😉 This is a bit too Gary Glitter for me. Conversely I totally *heart* the Balmain dress that Mossy wore – but then she has a teeny tiny bod so would look good in anyting!
