Dress of the Day | ASOS SALON Organza Floral Prom Dress

ASOS Salon Organza Floral Prom Dress

ASOS SALON Organza Floral Prom Dress, £85

We make no apology for featuring ASOS as our Dress of the Day so soon after the last time: yet again, the brand has released a fantastic summer collection, which seems designed to appeal to those of us who love retro-inspired fashion, midi dresses and, of course, jacquard fabrics. ASOS released quite a few floral jacquard dresses last year, and it’s possible we ended up buying them all. Whoops. This season, they’ve done it again: whether WE “do it again” remains to be seen, but we think there’s a pretty good chance – especially if this dress happens to go on sale at any point. We can’t afford it, and we’ve nowhere to wear it even if we did, but it’s just about the prettiest thing we’ve seen all year, so we want it anyway, if only just to admire it.

Here are some other ASOS dresses we’re currently admiring:

ASOS Tiffany dress in floral jacquard

ASOS ‘Tiffany’ dress in floral jacquard, £85

This is called ‘Tiffany’ and has the wide neckline and full skirt of a bygone age, brought up to date by the bright, almost fluorescent mix of yellow and green. It’s also available in pink, and if you like the style, but would prefer to knock £25 off the price, there’s also a skirt version, which retails for £60:

ASOS floral midi skirt, £60

Sticking with the midi dress theme, here’s a floral midi which is a little more affordable, at £40:

Love Floral Midi dress, £40

OK, it’s not exactly a show-stopper, but the subtle print and floaty fabric will make it a pretty option for a summer day. If you DO want something a little more show-stopping, however, here’s our favourite floral print of the summer so far:

Ted Baker floral skirt

Ted Baker full skirt in rose oil painting, £129

At £129, this isn’t the cheapest skirt you’ll find, but it could just be one of the prettiest: the very full shape has tons of drama, and the pale pink fabric is also very much “on trend”, should that be something that matters to you. And if it doesn’t, well, at least you can rest easy with the knowledge that florals never really go OUT of fashion, do they?
