New Look is one of the few stores out there where it’s possible to get an entire outfit for £50 or less, so when they asked us to take a look and see which of their products would pass the Fashion Police test, we decided to add an extra challenge, and put together three outfits, all available for £50 or under. Here are some of the items on our ‘Wanted!’ file, grouped together into three classic outfits:
Red bottom + stripe top is a tried and tested Fashion Police formula for a classic, effortless look that will take you almost anywhere. Add the kind of simple black pumps that work with everything, plus an envelope clutch, and you have four basic pieces, all for under £50.
The tea dress is another item that never goes out of style. We’ve “winterized” this one with thick tights (the thicker, the better), boots and chunky cardi, but it’ll also look good in the summer with bare legs and sandals.
Tartan is the winter trend that never dies, and we think this little navy and green check shift dress looks more expensive than it actually is. We’ve gone for even thicker tights this time, because when you can get 200 denier tights for £5.99, you may as well stock up.
Print pants have been a trend for a while now, but these ones are subtle enough to suit even those of us who don’t care about trends, and just want a slightly more interesting alternative to good ol’ black trousers.
Finally, from the prom dresses at New Look section comes this pink n’ pretty ensemble:
This is sugary-sweet and super “girlie”, but the dress itself is actually very simple, and could easily be dressed down, if you really want to.
