At just a touch under £200, this dress is a little – OK, make that a LOT – more expensive than most of Miss Selfridge’s offerings, but we’re guessing at least some of that is justified by the extra workmanship that appears to have gone into its creation. With an intricate, beaded design covering the length of the delicate lace fabric, it definitely isn’t something we’d have pegged as being from Miss Selfridge, if we hadn’t found it on their website. Then again, the brand has been doing a really nice line in dresses this year, and we’ve been pleasantly surprised by quite a few of them, so perhaps this is a new direction for them.
As far as the dress itself goes, the long sleeves and midi hem give it a touch of sophistication, while the figure-hugging shape prevent it from straying into “frumpy”. It has a diaphanous feel, thanks to the sheer lace, and is very different from a lot of the dresses that are currently available on the high street, which can only be a good thing as far as we’re concerned.
We guess the question we’re left with, then, is whether you’d be willing to spend that much money on a Miss Selfridge dress: would you?
