We fear the age of celebrity stylists has made the Oscars boring. Gone are the days of Bjork in a swan dress or Celine Dion in a back-to-front tuxedo: these are the days of (mostly) immaculate hair and makeup, and very few risks. You could say that was a good thing, of course. The Fashion Police had to make very few arrests at the Oscars 2013, which technically means that most people were “well dressed”. It does make it all a bit dull, though, doesn’t it?

Fashion Police at the Oscars 2013: red carpet roundup

You’ll find the full gallery from the Oscars 2013 red carpet at the bottom of this post. Before you get to it, though, some very quick observations from us:

Props to Kristen Stewart for turning up on crutches, and being one of the few people to wear something that didn’t just make us go, “Oh yeah. Nice.” As is always the case with Kristen, though, the dress is wearing HER, rather than the other way around. Still, at least she tried.

Adele is an absolutely stunning woman, who can rock a beehive and cats eye like no one else. It’s time for her to own it, and break away from the black beaded dresses: even The Fashion Police dog could’ve predicted she’d wear something exactly like this.

Naomi Watts in a grey glitter Giogio Armani Prive dress at the Oscars 2013

Now this is more like it. We always expect a little more from the actual nominees, and Naomi Watts didn’t disappoint. On paper, we’d probably hate the sound of this dress, but in person she looks stunning. She was our Best Dressed of the evening – but who was yours? Take a look at the gallery below and tell us who YOU think should take home the award for Best Dressed at the Oscars 2013?

  1. Lawrence is my best dressed. A lot of people predicted that gown for her, but she really looks like a princess and a winner. Naomi also looked great.

About Adele. Yes its always the same style, but it works for her. She has a difficult body type to dress, so its better for her to be safe then to be absolutely mocked when she tries something different.

However, I think that a dark blue would look as good on her as black.

  2. Jessica Chastain. I’m obsessed with her look – so gorgeous, so old hollywood, so movie star! She’s perfect; def the best dressed… [and should have been the best actress; just saying].

  3. Joan Rivers says the meanest things and tries to make it into a joke. She seems to encourage her other staff members to be mean as well and it’s sooooooooo unbecoming and cruel. Hard to watch someone her age acts like that on a constant and continuous basis. Can’t stand her mean girl, bully and sarcastic ways.
