Style Trial: Lea Michele’s bright yellow look

Lea Michele's bright yellow look

Canary yellow is one of those colours that people normally describe as a “brave” choice when someone attempts to dress in it. And we all know that “brave” is just another word for “crazy” in fashion-speak. We don’t know about you, but if someone told us we were “brave” for wearing a certain outfit, we’d probably want to run home and change it. Well, we’re not THAT brave, after all.

Wearing something this bright definitely isn’t “brave” in the sense that jumping into the ocean to rescue a drowning kitten is “brave”, say, but it certainly takes a bit of confidence. Luckily, confidence isn’t something Lea Michele lacks, so her choice of this yellow skirt and jacket, worn to the TCA Winter Press Tour last night, was less of a big deal for her than it might have been for someone else. It’s also a pretty good choice to show off the tan she acquired on her recent trip to Hawaii with boyfriend Cory Monteith: Lea tweeted that she’d managed to pick up some “sweet tan lines”, but we don’t see any sign of them here, thankfully: there ain’t nothing “sweet” about tan lines…

What she DOES have, however, is the happy, relaxed look of someone who just had a great vacation (No, we’re not jealous AT ALL, honest…), and as Facebook and Pinterest are always helpfully pointing out, a smile is a girl’s most stylish accessory. Or something like that, anyway.

What do you think of this look? Shall we send it to Fashion jail, or should we set it free?

I like the colour and the jacket, but the skirt looks like a bad Home Economics project.

I was about to say the same… Elastic waistbands are not a good look, definitely without a belt.

I loved her for how she portrayed her role on Glee but that elastic waistband skirt needs to go. The attire would have been better if the skirt was a short pencil-cut type. The color reminds me of the show “Clueless” because this is an attire Cher would rock…back in the ’90s.
