By Ludo earbud necklace and earings @ Louisa Via Roma

‘Nothing is created and nothing is destroyed, but everything is transformed,”  is the motto of By Ludo.

That’s all well and good, of course, but what we really want to know is why they’re expecting us to pay £184 for a necklace and £119 for a pair of earrings made out of old earbuds, when we could probably string a USB cable and a set of ‘buds around our necks for free? If, of course, we wanted to.

One thing’s for sure, though: all those people who love to go around declaring themselves to be “SUCH a geek!” just because they use the same gadgets as everyone else in the world will LOVE these. Do you, though? If you want to “transform” £303 into a necklace and earrings, both of which will look a lot like earbuds and USB cables – because they ARE earbuds and USB cables – you can get them at Louisa Via Roma. If you’re feeling REALLY geeky, there’s even a pair of keyboard button earrings for when you get bored of the ‘buds.

What do you think: cute n’ creative or crime of fashion?

  1. Uh oh, those remind me of that “punky” zipper bracelet my sister wanted. It was made of zipper pullers attached to some string and cost about 15£. Yeah, so I ended spending 4£ on a lot of zipper pullers, took some shoe laces from my handicraft box, and made two bracelets. I have still enough raw material to make her at least two more bracelets and matching earrings. I already thought people buying those bracelets must be insane to pay that much for some pseudo punk jewellery. But hell, people buying those ear plug things must be really, really insane.

  2. I don’t mind jewellery made from strange things, but they need to look vaguely artistic or creative! These just look like a bit too much like headphones on hooks, rather than an item of jewellery :/

  3. I kinda like the earwig one. at least a little bit of thought has gone into the attachment of the wiggies to the pins. it feels to me like they probably should of bought some space and sold it as a concept idea – you know, where you get the instructions but not the compontents? for $2.50 rather than just thinking “only one person is going to buy these: lets milk’em dry”
