OK, in J.Lo's defence here: this event was a pool party, so it's not like she turned up like this to some kind of fancy party or red carpet event.
On the other hand: is it EVER appropriate to wear hotpants n'heels, in this kind of fashion? Even if you've got it... do you really need to flaunt it?

The shorts are ok, but the top is not flattering at all. The shorts with the heels? Well, there are a whole bunch of working women who do this look every day, and lately it seems this is the ‘street’ that fashion designers are inspired by -street walking.
As she’s going to a pool party, the only problem I have is the top. Not flattering at all – and it made the whole outfit look far from age apropriate.
She doesn’t have the figure for this outfit and this outfit is out of her age range.
the pants are OK but the top makes she shoulders look wide and manly. also she is 40, she is good looking but this outfit is appropriate for a teenager.
