It's a little known fact, but in her later years, after she left the mountain, Heidi became a fashionista, and started buying her dirndl dresses at My Theresa. True story, folks.* And now you - yes, YOU - can follow in her footsteps, for the dresses shown above aren't from a costume store, or some kind of purveyor of traditional costume: they are, indeed, from My Theresa, best known for selling designer fashion to the masses. Or to the small cross-section of the masses who can actually afford it, anyway.
So, what do you make of the marketing of the dirdl as a fashion statement? We reckon that while these are pretty dresses when viewed in context (i.e. as traditional clothing), it would be really, really hard to to make them work outside of a costume party or Oktoberfest - which is what My Theresa suggest they'd be perfect for.
What do you think of the Apline peasant look? Is it something you can imagine yourself ever wearing?

Oh wow. As a German I saw quite a lot of those in several department stores. And the ones here… well, they look like the dirndls for little girls. The cheap ones. They are designer dirndls, they should not like 20€ girl dirndls.
I haven’t bought a dirndl so far; I did not visit a big Oktoberfest, so there simply was no need. But I tried on some for fun and they look really nice on basically everyone. And makes a great cleavage.

I would like to own a Dirndl someday though (I live in Munich, I kind of HAVE to have one).
I bought a lovely dirndl at Oktoberfest last year, it’s a gorgeous knee length green and pink patterned one with a pink apron. Doesn’t sound amazing but it’s so pretty! However, I wouldn’t wear it unless I was at Oktoberfest again, or at a fancy dress party!!
Also, it cost me £100 which I thought was quite a lot at the time (the beer helped soften the blow), and it is much nicer than these ones! If the real thing costs less than an imitation then the world really has gone mad!
Now I know how ya’all feel when I talk about science fiction costumes. People actually wear this stuff? In public? I’m dumbfounded.
I think these are pretty cute, but I agree with Lu on. They look more like outfits for young girls than they do adults.
Some of them could work in a more everyday situation without the aprons but the job you would have to have to afford it probably wouldn’t work with the dress.
