Can a boilersuit be “sexy”?

asos lemon boilersuit Can a boilersuit be sexy?

Boiler suits can be many things: saggy, shapeless, handy for when you’re painting the house, or working as a mechanic, say.

Can boiler suits ever be sexy, though, that is the question?

And ASOS think they have the answer:

ASOS boiler suit Can a boilersuit be sexy?

So that’s a “YAY” from them. Good to know.

From us, though? Well, look: we all know that “sexy” can come in many different guises. It doesn’t have to be short, tight and low-cut to be “sexy”: in fact, sometimes covering up can  be the sexiest thing of all, and sometimes the woman in the plain old jeans and t-shirt can be the sexiest woman in the room, just because of the way she carries herself.

But this boiler suit. We’re not really seeing the “sexy”, we must admit.

Maybe if it was a different colour?

Nope, we’re still not seeing it. We ARE seeing “pyjamas” now, though, so if that was the result they were after, we guess they’ve achieved it.

What about you, fashion jurors: do you think boiler suits can be sexy? Do you think THIS boiler suit is sexy? Or do you think boiler suits should just be burned, unless they’re being used for practical purposes? Like, er, boiling.

  1. in a word…no…all you end up with is potential camel toe so invasive people can see your womb and an instant ass size upgrade to the point where people offer to rent out sections of each buttock

    • 1) Moronic SMS-lingo reflects badly on its writer (unless you’re actually writing an SMS, of course, which doesn’t seem to be the case here). Just saying.
      2) If indeed “ur wearing 1 4 yo man” the wearer needs their head examined. Why should any man dictate what you wear? Why would you let him?

  2. I’ve only seen Jenny Shimizu pull boilersuit + sexy off….. and I think only she manages it because she actually used to be a mechanic ;)

  3. No, no, NO. For me anything that comes as a one-piece will forever be associated with Winston Churchill because he apparently liked to wear a one-piece that was called something fancy that I cannot remember now.

Only mechanics should be allowed to wear a boiler suit. I really think that jumpsuits should be forbidden to wear.

  4. They’re great for someone who’s legs are one quarter of their body height or making sure you’re distinquishable in a mad dog Mississippi prison.

  5. If my boss ever carries out his half hearted threat to make me wear a boiler suit, it will be one of the above and not the ones the guys wear complete with electrical tape covering up holes :) but then and only then.

  6. lose the dreadful hemline that makes it look like a janitor’s uniform and it might actually be a cute jumpsuit. i’m bias though, i actually really have a thing for one piece outfits. oh, and if it were orange it would kind of look like prison attire aha!
