The Tardis Purse, for your inner geek

Tardis purseYou know what annoys us? When people - and by "people", we mean "hipsters" - think that watching very mainstream TV shows, like Doctor Who, say, makes them "geeks". And then they go around all the time saying things like, "Oh, I can't wait for the next episode of Doctor Who! I'm such a geek, lol!"

(Other things that annoy us: people who write "lol" at the end of every sentence, regardless of whether it's appropriate or not, lol!)

That has absolutely nothing to do with this Tardis purse, by the way. We just wanted to get it off our chests.

  • i love doctor who, but that is just a bit too obvious. i prefer not to show everyone my likes all the time (that’s why i never wear band shirts as well) so this… plus, it looks like you’re carrying a boc around on a strap.

a few weeks ago i made a skirt in the exact same color as the TARDIS and stitched ‘police public call box’ on the inner waistband. that way it’s like a little reference only i know about!

    It looks like a phonebooth.
    :(

  • I’m a geek and I don’t watch TV. I don’t know if I’m for real anymore..

As for the bag.. is it a winter bird cage?

That’s awesome! Not something I would wear but I know quite a few people who would :) Maybe Dr. Who is mainstream in the UK but over here in the states (and I can only speak for the younger people I know) it’s only nerds/geeks who watch it.

It’s slowly gaining popularity in the states. And by slowly I mean no one knows about it. That or all the other Whovians are hiding…
Literally only 20 DW fans in Texas…

Dr. Who is the opposite of Mainstream in Canada and the USA, we’re only just discovering it now. I’m madly in love with it but most of the people I meet (including my family) think it’s the geekiest thing in the world. ;)

    • same here. my boyfriend got me a desktop dalek as a small joke gift for christmas and my family had no idea why he gave me a toy and why i loved it so much.

(it’s pretty awesome though, it can sense obstacles or edges so it just buzzes around on my desktop yelling EXTERMINATE)

i live in belgium and i only know about seven people who are into doctor who. only three of them knew te show before they met me… they aired it years ago but started in the middle of the new series so no one had any idea what it was about. it was aired at a stupid time as well, in the middle of the day when everyone is at work/school. the only time i saw it on belgian tv was when i was home sick.

In the U.S. only Geeky people watch it. Most people just stare at you blankly if you make any Doctor reference. I WANT to love this bag. I really really do. But something just doesn’t work for me. To big perhaps?

Seconding the people from outside the UK who watch Doctor Who. You have to be a bit of a geek to even know about it. It’s definitely not mainstream here (in fact, they tried airing it but cancelled it because no one was watching).

I think that purse is kind of cool. And maybe it’s bigger on the inside :) (I probably wouldn’t wear it, though)

Hey, I have a mug like that.

  • It’d be a cute lunch box….but as a purse, it looks silly.

  • Doctor Who isn’t all that mainstream in the US, so it is considered geeky.

Anyway, I really need to own this.

  • It’s cool, but it’s just one of those things that sound fun in theory. Wearing this kind of statement piece gets annoying after the millionth double take people give you on the street -_- And it def. makes you look like a hipster
