But what if your name isn’t “Kate”?

topshop kate sweater But what if your name isnt Kate?

They didn’t really think this through, did they?

Or, on second thoughts, maybe they did: this ‘Kate’ sweater arrived on the Topshop website yesterday morning… and was sold out by 8pm.

Are there really that many people called Kate out there? Did the Kates Moss and Middleton buy them all? Or are there now a ton of people who aren’t called ‘Kate’ walking around with someone else’s name on their sweater? Is it a reference to the Duchess of Cambridge? Do people really worship her THAT MUCH, if so?

Explain it to us, please.

  1. Hm, at least among celebrities, Kat(i)e seems to be VERY frequent right now. (Holmes, Hudson, Perry, Price, Beckinsale, Mara,…) If that’s also the case among the “common” people, and given the fact that this sweater is quite cheap, I can very well imagine a lot of people buying it either for themselves or as a gift for a Kate they know.
It’s not exactly pretty, though, the font is nothing to write home about, and the “writing” seems uneven in size.

If somebody here wants THEIR Name on a sweater, tell me, I can knit it for you – in a prettier font. :)

  2. “kate” is a pretty average name in the english-speaking countries…perhaps there were a lot of girls who thought “ohh, now everyone will think I’m a kate too, hihihi”
