One outfit, multiple fashion crimes

Huh. Three legs but no arms: it’s not often you find an outfit that does THAT for you now, is it?

Anyone feel like counting the fashion crimes here? It’s OK, we’ll wait…

Modelling is Hard: Sack Dress Edition

ugly sack dress Modelling is Hard: Sack Dress Edition

We know what you’ll say to this.

“But, Fashion Police!” you’ll say. “You could belt it! And wear it with different shoes! Maybe a leather jacket or something to toughen it up. It could all be OK!”

But the fact is, they DIDN’T belt it. Or put the model in different shoes. Or “toughen it up”. And it’s NOT OK. It’s very much NOT OK. And all of the objections you can think of will simply boil down to “if it looked completely different, in every possible way, THEN it might work”. Meanwhile, this poor model is suffering, and no one – not even The Fashion Police – can help here.

Her torment didn’t end with the dress, either:

Attention, America: you can now shop from Zara’s online store!

zara online store available in US Attention, America: you can now shop from Zaras online store!

The title says it all, really: if you’re in the United States, you now have access to Zara’s online store, and all of the good – and sometimes bad – stuff it holds.

Zara have gradually been rolling out the transactional side of their website over the past couple of years: the UK started shopping online from Zara around this time last year, and shipping is also available to much of Europe. It’s one small step for Zara, but one giant leap in the ongoing movement towards international ecommerce for all: or we hope so, anyway.

What do we want? All of our favourite stores, shipping to everywhere in the world!
When do we want it? As soon as possible, please. If it’s not too much trouble, that is.

Fashion Criminal of the Week: Abbey Clancy at the GQ Men of the Year Award

FP 7846187 BIG GQ Awards 09 32 Fashion Criminal of the Week: Abbey Clancy at the GQ Men of the Year Award

Forget something, love?

We know what you’re thinking…

…great shoes, no?

And we know it’s only Wednesday, but we’re still confident that Abbey Clancy’s lace “dress”, as worn to the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London last night, will prove to be the worst celebrity outfit of the week. We really hope so, anyway: we’re not sure our nerves could take many more like this, we’re on our 12th cup of coffee today already.

You’ll find some more outfits from last night’s awards in the gallery, including one from poor Charlize Theron, who had her feet snatched while standing on the red carpet: don’t worry, Charlize, we’ll catch that Foot Snatcher one of these days, you see if we don’t!

Wear or Die: Ugly Prom Dress Edition

ugly prom dresses Wear or Die: Ugly Prom Dress Edition

For this week’s edition of Wear or Die, we bring you two dresses, both pulled from our very own Ugly Prom Dress gallery, and both modelled by the same girl. That poor, poor girl. She’s not as lucky as you are: she didn’t get to choose which of these dresses she wore, she just had to wear them both! Your task, then, is a little easier in comparison: you must choose one the two dresses shown above… or you must die!

The rules:

1. You must choose one of the options shown above, to be worn in public
2. You are not allowed to hide the outfit in any way: no large overcoats allowed!
3. Death is not an option!

Of course, luckily for you, this is all just for fun, and you won’t actually have to wear the dress. This model DID have to wear the dress: both of them. For her, Wear or Die isn’t a game: it’s HER LIFE.

Which will you choose? Pink or orange, orange or pink? Make your choice in the comments, and prepare to WEAR OR DIE!

What’s your favourite online fashion shop in the US?

online fashion shop Whats your favourite online fashion shop in the US?

(Image: J Crew Spring 2011 campaign)

A couple of years ago, we put together our directory of online clothing stores in the UK. Now we want to do the same for the US, but there’s just one problem: we need your help!

Not being US residents, we’re not quite as familiar with the online offerings across the ponds as we are with those in dear old Blighty. That’s where you come in. Leave us a comment with a link to your favourite online fashion shops in the United States, and our officers will check it out: simple!

There are just three rules:

1. The store must ship to the United States.

2. It must offer online shopping: so that fabulous little boutique around the corner doesn’t count unless it has an ecommerce website.

3. It must stock clothing of some kind.

Oh, and our spam filter sometimes overreacts when it sees lots of links being posted, so don’t worry if your comment doesn’t appear immediately: it’ll just have gone to the spam folder, and we’ll dig it out as soon as we can!

Speaking of spam, comments on this post will close in a couple of days, to prevent us getting spammed to death, so if you have some stores to share, speak now!

Speaking of saggy pants…

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has better things to do than worry about saggy pants

PRPhotos.com

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has “better things to do than worry about saggy pants,” folks: or, at least, that’s what he told a Southwest Airlines attendant who asked him to pull up his pants on a recent flight, anyway.

Fortunately – or perhaps unfortunately, as the case may be – The Fashion Police don’t have better things to worry about than saggy pants (saggy pants being one of the most serious offences on our citation sheet), so let’s hear what you all think about Billie Joe, and whether or not he and his pants should have been allowed to fly.

One crucial piece of evidence is, of course, missing here: we don’t know how low the pants in question were sagging, and how much of Billie Joe’s underwear was on show. Indeed, we don’t even know if Billie Joe was wearing underwear, although we expect Southwest Airlines would probably be able to tell us. This fact alone is disturbing: we tend to be of the opinion that if other people are privy to information about the state of your undies, you probably need to pull your pants up, but, of course, that’s just us.

What do you think, Fashion Police jurors? How low is too low? Should people be denied transport if they feel to meet certain standards relating to sagging? Tell us!

(The story, by the way, has a happy ending, in that Billie Joe was allowed to catch the next flight. We have no idea what he did about his pants, though…)
