Denim Wars: What’s your favourite type of jeans?

skinny jeans bootcut jeans Denim Wars: Whats your favourite type of jeans? (All jeans shown: River Island)

One, two, three, four, we declare a denim war!

Yesterday we talked about how bootcut jeans are kicking skinnies in the denim ass as far as eBay sales are concerned. Today we want to introduce some other types of jeans into the fray, and start a full-scale denim war. Imagine armies of jeans, all battling for dominance. Who will win? YOU DECIDE! (Sorry, we thought we were on Big Brother for a second there…)

The question is simple: WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE TYPE OF JEAN?

To make it simpler still, we’ve included a poll. Please feel free to elaborate on your vote in the comments, so we can all argue over something as trivial as denim.

(We’re joking: let’s not argue. In fact, let’s all have a big, denim-clad hug. Only after you’ve placed your vote below, though…)

  1. My favourite pair of jeans right now are super-skinny, for the sole reason that they’re easier to fit in boots :)
I also have a pair of straight and bootcut jeans.

  2. I barely ever wear jeans but if I do they’re usually skinny, or straight-legged. I like to tuck them into boots and tend to wear them with floaty tops, so I think they have to be quite tight to keep the proportions right.

  3. i love the flares i find today… and the higher waist they have. you have no idea how happy i was when i found a pair of jeans with a waist that sits right below my bellybutton instead of halfway down my hips! they are a bit more ‘special’ than bootcuts and look great with heels imho.

  4. bootcut and super skinny are hot, but flares are fun and comfy and those SEXY high waisted straight legs at American Apparel are explosively hot to me. It’s like they specifically designed them for girls with large derrieres and small waists like me

  5. I put down skinny only because I somehow missed the super skinny option. Because I have long legs with absolutely no butt to speak of I like very skinny pants, think of Audrey Hepburn’s cigarette pants. Plus they look great with heels and are easy to tuck into boots during the colder months.

  6. I don’t have a favorite. It just depends on the top, I guess. I love my skinny jeans, but I would never wear them with a tight t-shirt; I love my flared jeans, but I’d never wear them with a babydoll tunic. I don’t buy super skinny pants, wide-leg ones, boyfriend ones, et cetera, but I might buy straight leg jeans if they were easier to find.

As far as jeans are concerned, I’m more worried about the rise and the quality of the denim. I can usually find a way to wear most styles (not counting harem jeans or other hideous permutations).

  7. I am ‘curvy’ myself so I tend to wear only straight jeans, never ever skinny jeans. I also really hate flares of any kind (even bootcut – it has a small hint of a flare) so I pretty much only wear straight-leg. They don’t make me look like a pug wearing pants and they’re also easy to tuck into things. And I like how they crumple at the bottom around my shoes, or how they look cuffed.

  8. Bootcut and flares. I have wonderful rounded thighs and these balance my proportions, but the true reason is that I have also the calves of my heroic ancestors (43 centimeters – 17″ and little or no fat down there) and every other type of jeans or trousers I have to pull down when I stand up, they stick to my calves.

  9. Bootcut with flats, straight with heels.

My calfs and booty don’t allow anything else. Skinies hug my calfes and look weird, and boyfriend jeans make me look frumpy. That’s what you get for having a classic 50s body-shape today.
