Daily Fail: Milla Jovovich “needs to get a tan” says Mail

daily fail1 Daily Fail: Milla Jovovich needs to get a tan says Mail
This is exactly the kind of thing we were complaining about in our post on how skin colour is not a fashion statement.

Seriously, Daily Mail? You’d prefer people to risk skin cancer just to meet some stupid, made-up ideal? Shame on you.

Oh, and Milla? You look just fine the way nature intended…

    • The headline is bad, but the whole article has this tone of astonishment, like, “Look! EVEN DESPITE her pale skin, her husband still finds her attractive, how weird!” I need to stop reading the Fail, for the good of my health :)

  1. I hate when my in-laws call me Milky, just because I prefer to stay away from the sun… I don’t go around calling them brownies all summer long. This really hurts me sometimes.

  2. It boggles my mind that people care about this kind of thing. I can understand if someone genuinely looks sallow and unhealthy, but there’s a big difference between that and naturally pale! (Which I personally think looks lovely.)

  3. This kind of thing drives me crazy. I just don’t understand why anyone would actually feel the need to comment on other people’s skin colour. I get these kinds of comments all the time – while I was walking along the beach on my holiday, one guy actually yelled after me, ‘Love, have you ever been out in the sun?’ I wanted to say, ‘No, but that’s because I’m a vampire, and not the sparkly kind,’ and then tear his throat out, but I refrained from it. W*nker.

    • Wow, that’s terrible. And you know, if you had almost any other shade of skin and people were shouting things like that, it would be racist and everyone would be (rightfully) horrified by it. But if you’re pale it’s considered fair game, somehow. So awful.

  4. well she is getting a tan, she`s on the beach, isn`t she? and even if she wasn`t, her skin looks great just the way it is.

    • Haha, exactly! And the Mail does this a lot – they will express their abslote disgust at someone’s pale skin being on show, without seeming to realise that if it wasn’t on show, the person wouldn’t be able to “get a tan”, as required – so stupid, on so many levels!

  5. To be completely honest with you, I’m not all that surprised with that article. It IS the Daily Mail, after all. What else can you expect, really? The fact that they actually have readers just boggles my mind. I don’t get it. The Daily Mail should just be shut down. All they can do is spew out offensive nonsense like this.
But besides all of that, she looks beautiful. And I’m a bit envious of her flawless, creamy skin.

  6. I think that she looks amazing. Gah, why can’t people just relax with all these ridiculous skin color “trends”? I don’t get mad at my cats for not having on-trend fur. I’m super pale, my best friend is nut brown. We’re both quite attractive.
