Shoe Porn: Miss KG ‘Minnie’ shoes in red suede and black polka dot

miss kg minnie shoes Shoe Porn: Miss KG Minnie shoes in red suede and black polka dotWe liked the original version of Miss KG’s ‘Minnie’ pumps, which has a soft grey upper with a pink bow. We like the 2011 upgrade even better, though, even although these have taken a much more literal interpretation of the ‘Minnie’ name, and will have to be styled carefully so you don’t ACTUALLY end up looking like Minnie Mouse.

Still, red shoes have always been our thing, and when you add an oversized bow in a fun print, it gives them an extra element of cuteness, and makes them even more attention-getting than they were to start with. We approve.

These are £80: click here to buy them.

Fashion Trends on Trial: Brightly coloured jeans

(Zara)

Following on from the colourblocking trend (and often an integral part of it) comes the brightly coloured jeans, which we’re sure you can’t have failed to notice in the stores, on the streets, and on your favourite (and not-so-favourite) celebrities and fashion bloggers.

These can be any colour you want them to be, really: green, red, blue, pink, yellow… Any colour, that is, as long as it’s not a traditional “denim” wash. And as long as it’s bright.

They can be any shape you want to. They’re most often seen in skinny cuts, but the ones shown above, for instance, are very slightly looser, and we’ve also seen these as flares, or boyfriend jeans.  They can be worn with other, similarly bright colours, if you want to try your hand at a spot of colour-blocking. Or you can play it safe and try to tone them done a little by keeping the rest of your outfit neutral.

In other words, they’re exactly the same as any other pair of jeans in your wardrobe: but they’re really freaking bright!

Of course, brightly coloured denim isn’t a new thing. It’s been around the fashion block before, and we’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing it again at some point in the future, once the current trend has died down a little. We’re seeing an awful lot of it right now, so we want to know what you think of it?

As for us, we really quite like this look. It adds something a little different to the traditional “jeans and a top”, and can look fantastic when done right.

What do you think?

The Manifesto Legging’s manifesto is to be arrested

the manifesto legging The Manifesto Leggings manifesto is to be arrested
This is The Manifesto Legging by Hellz Bellz. (Side note: why do so many brands refer to their products in the singular now? A legging. A jean. A shoe. Surely these are leggings, not “legging”? “Legging” sounds like something a plumber might do to pipes.)

We can only assume the manifesto in question reads “get arrested by Fashion Police”. And we are more than happy to help out with that! Because, the thing is, people will wear these as pants, won’t they?

suspender leggings The Manifesto Leggings manifesto is to be arrestedThese are just begging to be worn as pants. Fashion victims will hear their call and obey it. And then everyone will be walking around in suspender leggings – sorry, legging - and the Fashion Police jail won’t be big enough to hold you all.

That’s why we’re trying to put a stop to this nonsense now. If you feel you must thwart us, you can click here to buy them for $62.

Celebrity Style on Trial: Chloe Sevigny

It’s Chloe Sevigny, everyone! She’s here to show us all how to dress!

It’s OK, we’re just kidding: phew! Chloe actually stands before you On Trial. We want you, the ladies and gentlemen of the Fashion Police jury, to help us decide, once and for all, whether Chloe is the modern-day fashion icon the fashion press would like us to believe she is, or whether she is, in fact, merely another fashion victim, attacked by trends and duped into believing that if you can call an outfit “edgy” THAT MAKES IT OK.

Here are some pieces of evidence.

For the prosecution:

For the defence:

We’ve prepared a full dossier of evidence, which we present below. Feel free to take a look and let us know whether you find Chloe Sevigny guilty or innocent of committing crimes of fashion.
