Following on from the colourblocking trend (and often an integral part of it) comes the brightly coloured jeans, which we’re sure you can’t have failed to notice in the stores, on the streets, and on your favourite (and not-so-favourite) celebrities and fashion bloggers.

These can be any colour you want them to be, really: green, red, blue, pink, yellow… Any colour, that is, as long as it’s not a traditional “denim” wash. And as long as it’s bright.

They can be any shape you want to. They’re most often seen in skinny cuts, but the ones shown above, for instance, are very slightly looser, and we’ve also seen these as flares, or boyfriend jeans.  They can be worn with other, similarly bright colours, if you want to try your hand at a spot of colour-blocking. Or you can play it safe and try to tone them done a little by keeping the rest of your outfit neutral.

In other words, they’re exactly the same as any other pair of jeans in your wardrobe: but they’re really freaking bright!

Of course, brightly coloured denim isn’t a new thing. It’s been around the fashion block before, and we’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing it again at some point in the future, once the current trend has died down a little. We’re seeing an awful lot of it right now, so we want to know what you think of it?

As for us, we really quite like this look. It adds something a little different to the traditional “jeans and a top”, and can look fantastic when done right.

What do you think?

  1. i’ve got one salmoncolored skinny jeans from h&m, they are so amazing! i’m even wearing them right now… I love them! (not so sure of the red though, I don’t like that color on my legs)

  2. I don’t know if I can get on board with this. When I was in Catholic school years ago, we had a dress code which forbid traditional jeans, but allowed colored ones. These just remind me of those Elementary school days- I didn’t look good in them back then, and I doubt I would now!

  3. No. It looks too childish to me. I prefer dark coloured jeans in general. However, if I was to find a pair of neon green ones, I’d probably make an exception.

  4. A staple of my jeans collection, always have red, green (acid green),and yellow , never go out of fashion, and always look good if you know how to wear them….

  5. DI LOVE brightly coloured jeans :D but i know I personally won’t be wearing them because I don’t like attention being drawn to my legs.

  6. The Zara ones look like something that could catch on, but the J Brand ones look painful. The model looks like she can barely move, much less sit…

  7. Ugh I hate them. If you aren’t tall and skinny it adds a lot of weight to your legs. The only color I do like is Red for these.
