We just bet some “fashionistas” will love these. Well, someone has to love them, no? And we guess that, objectively, the idea of carving a shoe out of a block of wood – or at least making it LOOK like they’re carved out of a block of wood, which is what’s happened here – is kinda cool. In theory. In reality? We’re just not loving it. And we say that with sadness, because we’re big Nicholas Kirkwood fans ordinarily.
What about you, though? Do you find these shoes guilty as charged, or would you set them free? Would the fact that they’re $2,512 change your mind any? Tell us!
US readers, we just want to give you fair warning here: with the arrival of Cheryl Cole on your shores to sit on the judging panel for US X-Factor (we showed you her first day outfit yesterday: click here if you missed it), you’re also going to be witnessing some very big hair. There is no way of escaping this. Other celebrities WILL try to copy the Big Hair. Sarah Jessica Parker, for instance, has already started:
The situation will only get worse from here. Soon, everywhere you look, there will be people with gigantic heads. You may even find yourself tempted to follow suit, and join the Big Hair Brigade. We can’t say there haven’t been times when we’ve been tempted ourselves.
Will you, though? What do you think of SJP’s look?
Hot pants and blazers: it’s the only outfit suitable for a fashion show, readers!
Here’s Poppy Delevigne, for instance, at Chane’sl Croisiere Show yesterday. Poppy was waching the show, not walking in it. Maybe we’d want to wear hotpants and blazers too, if we looked like her…
Rachel Bilson also went for the shorts n’ jacket look:
Louis de Gama calls this a ‘silk button through shirt dress with contrast yoke panels’. We call it a tent, which the model has to hold down at the back to avoid flashing her bottom at the photographer. Seriously, watch the catwalk video on the ASOS website and it’s almost indecent.
The model here is 5’10” so if you like this dress, we implore you to refrain from actually buying it unless you are considerably shorter than our girl. But tell us, is it a shapeless sack, or cutting edge fashion?
Well to begin with, it’s white. Which means that even if our officers did our best to avoid red wine all evening whilst wearing this skirt, red wine would find us. Or grease. Or grime. Or all of the above…
But more to the point, those draped sides – we just know they’re going to get caught in every single door we encounter. Particularly, we can’t help but feel, car doors, which brings us right back to the grime-factor – because those white drapes are going to be far from white by the time they’ve been dragged 15 blocks behind a taxi cab!
Nope, definitely not one for the klutzes amongst us…
The Fashion Police have long been fans of retro-style swimwear, of the kind shown above: cut low on the hips, with a bit of ruching over the stomach, this shape is super-flattering, and surprisingly sexy – perfect for those of us who don’t really fancy the itsy-witsy, teeny-weeny bikini (yellow polka dot or otherwise).
Of course, the drawback with this kind of swimswuit is that they tend to be on the expensive side, which is why we were so pleased to come across Target’s current collection. These suits retail for just $34.99, and are available in a wide range of prints, colours and shapes, with the ones shown above being just a small selection.
For those of us outside of the UK, the bad news is that Target don’t ship to us, unfortunately: boo! If you’re in the US, however, you can click here to make your selection: lucky you!
We’ve said it before and we’ll probably say it again: feathers scare us. Feathered clothes make us want to run away, shrieking “The birds! The birds!”
We’re a fickle force, though, and this Marchesa dress doesn’t scare us at all, mostly because it’s being worn by Penelope Cruz, who possesses the ability to make even a plucked bird look good. One for the CV, Penelope!
Penelope wore this creation to the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiere at Walt Disney World this week. What do you think of it?
