Modelling is Hard: Zombie Edition

funny model poses Modelling is Hard: Zombie Edition

Before you ask, we’re not talking issue with what this model is wearing, which is pretty inofensive: we’re just concerned for her. The vacant stare, the slumped-over posture: this model is a zombie, isn’t she? Someone has zombified her! Jeez Louise, modelling really IS hard, isn’t it?

Seriously, though: why does the fashion world do this? Why does it persist in taking pretty girls and forcing them to pose in ridiculous, awkward stances, with facial expresions that resemble those of The Undead? (No offence to the girl in question, here, by the way: it’s not her, it’s the way the shoot has been styled.) Isn’t fashion supposed to be aspirational? Is everyone reading this secretly aspiring to be a zombie?

Someone help this model! It doesn’t have to be this hard, surely?

Well, take a look at these ones by Nicole Ritchie’s House of Harlow 1960 label: you may have trouble keeping them on your nose, but at least you won’t be able to put them down somewhere and lose them. They’ll also make a rather quirky little necklace…

Style on Trial: The Unholy Alliance of Leopard and Gingham

Leopard print and gingham dress Style on Trial: The Unholy Alliance of Leopard and Gingham

Sequined leopard print and … gingham. They’re not the first prints we’d choose to put together, it has to be said. One is sweet, the other not-so-much, and even when they’re both sprinkled liberally with sequins, as in this Ashish dress, the effect is… well, let’s start with unexpected (which can, of course, be either a good thing or a bad thing) and work from there, shall we?

Pattern mixing, you see, is pretty popular at the moment in the world of fashion, and it’s something that can be hard to get right, so what we want to know is: did Ashish manage it with this dress? Have they pulled off the unholy alliance of gingham and leopard with aplomb, or is this a case of “never the twain should meet”?

Over to you…

Complicated dressing: Versace leather lace-up platform sandals

Versace leather lace up platform sandals Complicated dressing: Versace leather lace up platform sandalsYeouch! When we look at these beauties, “comfort” is far from our thoughts. Painful, perhaps, high, definitely – and, for the more rushed amongst us, time-consuming. We can’t imagine throwing these babies on in a hurry – heck, even the name is complicated!

But, while they’re not to our personal tastes, they do have a certain dominatrix-punk charm about them… Which, we’re sure, places them firmly up someone’s street?

What do you think – would you wear them? And if so, how?

Topshop leather shorts: Now with added sideburns

Topshop black leather tassel side hotpants Topshop leather shorts: Now with added sideburnsSo, tassels on the side of shorts: what do you think of this look?  They are 100% leather and we can’t help but think that they would look better without the strange hair pieces that have been attached to the sides.  The tassels will certainly be noticed given their length, but will it be in a good way?

What do you think readers?  Do you want such giant tassels on your shorts?  If you do, and this is the pair for you, they are £68 from Topshop.
