Wear or Die: Comme des Garcons Edition

ugly dresses comme des garcons Wear or Die: Comme des Garcons Edition

Which would you prefer, readers: to be naked but for an enormous cloud of black lace… or to be clothed, but looking like someone attacked your dress with the gardening shears?

That’s the question that faces you in this edition of Wear or Die, for today you must choose one of the two dresses above to wear in public: or you must die. (And no, you can’t wear something under or over them: they must be worn exactly as they’re shown.)

Which will you choose?

(Both dresses are by Comme des Garcons and are available at Yoox.com.)

Natascha Stolle finds a loophole in the “Leggings Are Not Pants” rule

leggings are not pants Natascha Stolle finds a loophole in the Leggings Are Not Pants rule

Leggings. We know they’re not pants. You know they’re not pants. We suspect even Natascha Stolle secretly knows they’re not pants, or she wouldn’t have felt the need to give them a “modesty skirt”. (Note: when creating a modesty skirt, it’s best to avoid sheer fabrics. Because they’re see-through. Got it?) “Look!” this model seems to be saying. “I really wanted to wear leggings as pants, but I know that’s forbidden by The Fashion Police, so I’m wearing this sheer skirt around my waist in a bid to throw them off the scent. Clever, no?”

Uh, sweetheart? We can still see your crotch. We know you’re wearing leggings as pants. Your cunning plan has not worked. Also: leggings and a sheer skirt? Really? Two wrongs don’t make a right, you know. Sorry.

We reckon there must be a lot of people out there who really want to wear leggings as pants, though, because these are sold out at ASOS in everything but a UK size 12. If that’s your size, well, looks like it’s your lucky day, because they’re on sale, too. Click here to buy them.

Spot the Difference: Victoria Beckham and Closet grey peplum dresses

victoria beckham knockoff dress Spot the Difference: Victoria Beckham and Closet grey peplum dresses

Closet aren’t the first brand to “be inspired” by Victoria Beckhams’ Carmontelle peplum dress: they’re simply the most recent. Still, in the interests of policing the world of fashion, let the record reflect that the dress on the right of the image above looks very much like the one on the left, with one of the main differences being that you’ll only pay £30 for the copy (Click here to buy it from Dorothy Perkins), while the original would’ve set you back £2,095 – if, of course, it hadn’t been an almost-instant sell-out.

Closet’s dress has a shorter skirt and some different tailoring on the bodice: which do you prefer (if either)?

Milan Fashion Week: D&G Spring/Summer 2011 runway

Ever wondered what it might be like to try to cram as many different floral prints onto your body as possible? Well, wonder no more, readers, for D&G are here to show us the way with their Spring 2011 runway show at Milan Fashion Week.

As well as all those florals, there’s also a cameo by Snow White, some massive tote bags and an inexplicable pair of red plastic bloomers. All of this aside, this was perhaps one of the more traditionally “summery” shows of the latest round of Fashion Weeks, and the shoes are to die for (check out Shoeperwoman later today to see more of them).

What do you think of it all, though? Take a look at our gallery and prepare for floral overload…
