We’ve had feathers on jackets and feathers on shoes. Hell, we’ve even had feathers on sunglasses. Those pesky birds get everywhere, don’t they?
How do you feel about feathers on skirts, though, readers? In fact, let’s go one step further with this: how do you feel when the feathers ARE the skirt – or are designed to look like they are, at least? Alice + Olivia obviously love them, hence the creation of their Francesca feather skirt, which is $330 at Shopbop. We, on the other hand, can’t stop singing, “Chick-chick-chick-chick-chicken! Lay a little egg for me!” for some reason.
Where do you stand on this important issue? Do you say YAY or NAY to this skirt?

Nay. I don’t like feathers on any item of clothing really but this one really takes it a bit too far… too far into the chicken territory.
Nay. Except for fancy dress and until I grow a beak to clean it with.
I would never wear it..but i do think it’s kinda beautiful
Oh, I love those… I would never wear them, but I still love them!
I think they’d be great with the right styling.
1. I would not dare sit down. 2. I would not dare wash it. Nay.
A tentative yay from me. I’m not in love with it, but think it could probably work on some people.
Ugly! Feathers give me the creeps
Yay. To the right occasion. As in, a very eccentric party. And with just the right top. Not sure what that would be, though.
yay AND nay
yay as an interesting and beautiful subject of many potential fashion editorials
nay as a liveable wearable garment…can you imagine the molting that would occur from entering and exiting vehicles…not to mention the affection of my cats
I think it is beautifully constructed, however I’d feel like an emu/ostrich if I wore it. So I guess that would be a nay from me…
As everyday wear, nay. However I think it would awesome as part of a performance costume.
nay, nay and one thousand times nay.
How is this much better than fur?
Very impractical (but it is kinda pretty, only to look at though, wouldn’t ever wear it)
Yay! I would of course feel weird if those were real feathers (eek, plucked from a bird?!) but I like the idea of a “feathery-like” skirt.
However I am in no way promoting those awful clothes that have the fake, cheap looking feathers that make everyone look like a vegas show girl.
Just saw this on the bride at the after-party at Chicago’s wedding of the year. It was spectacular and perfect.
I just bought this skirt and plan to wear it at my upcoming birthday party. I am curious to find out what the bride – mentioned in Dancin’s reply – paired with the skirt. I’m thinking about wearing a brown camisole and high-heeled booties. Any other suggestions?
