These models all look angry. Seriously, look at them: they’re like some pissed-off model gang members, getting ready to challenge us to a fight. What rattled their cage, do you think? Oh yeah: probably whoever it was that ran up to them and stole all their pants. First we had the Foot Snatcher and now there’s a Pant Stealer on the loose. The work of your fashion crime-fighting force is never done, readers.
In this case, however, we can rest easy. Well, sort of. These ladies haven’t, in fact, been robbed of their pants: they’re wearing – sorry, we beg your pardon, “working” – one of this season’s big trends: the shirt dress. Now, as you all know, the term “shirt dress” is generally used to refer to any kind of dress with a collar and a row of buttons down the front. In this case, however, it refers specifically to that breed of dress that looks exactly like a shirt. You know, for that, “Oh, hai, I totally just threw on my boyfriend’s old shirt this morning, because I’m so gorgeous I don’t need to make an effort” kind of look.
What do you think of this look, ladies and gentlemen of the Fashion Police jury? Are you down with the shirtdress, or are you down ON the shirtdress? (If it’s the former, all of the ones pictured above are currently available to buy, and there’s plenty more where those came from. Or you could ACTUALLY just wear your boyfriend’s old shirt, and save yourself some cash, up to you.)
I would be too concerned that something would be revealed while wearing one of them–and why not just use a man’s shirt?
I would love this look … with pants. They are even long enough to be worn with leggings, but not as a dress. Although some dresses that look like dresses are also this short this season.
I think something you’re all failing to realize here is that all those models are most likely 5′ 9″ and up. So on shorter women (ie most women, as the average height for women is well below that), these dresses would not be obscene in the least. And shirt dresses have been in for -years-, they’re not some new fashion phenomena.
to me the ones above seem more SHIRTdress than shirtDRESS…i think out of them all i like the one on the farthest right which looks more like a dress than that the girl lost or forgot her pants
I like the look with pants or leggings. But the dress alone is kinda freaky. I would feel so insecure in that. Imagine you bend and everything shows. Plus their fabrics are often really light which means any breeze can make it flip the wrong sense.
I would add some opaque tights and a smart jacket a little bit shorter than a dress to make it even more obvious. What? I like my legs. And I like shoking people
I saw someone wearing a dress like these on the tube the other day. Looked much like she’d forgotten to put trousers on.
I think it’s cute and just the right thing to wear with clogs.
I think the second one from the left looks a bit like a prison uniform.
