Sometimes it’s good to know that celebrities are just like us, deep down. Some days, for instance, they just don’t feel like dressing up for a movie premiere. Some days they just feel like throwing on that little striped dress that’s so comfortable, tossing some curlers in their hair and saying “OK, I’m done.”
So it was for Katie Holmes at the premiere of The Extra Man this week. “Meh,” she seems to be saying here. “Who cares? I mean, at least I curled my hair for this…”
What do you think of Katie’s Red Carpet Casual look? Do you applaud her attempt to go for a more relaxed look? Is it refreshing to see a celebrity who isn’t trying too hard once in a while? Or do you think the star of the movie should at least be distinguishable from the rest of the crowd?
I like it. She looks fresh and sweet and young. And normal, in a good way.
i’m a little disappointed mainly since it’s red carpet. her dress fits kind of lumpy and her hair looked so cute when it was shorter! Still, if she was dressed like this in public like just out, it would be way better than on the red carpet I think,
I saw another pic of her at the premiere and she looked really out of place, in this pic she doesn’t look that bad. I don’t think it was red carpet approriate, the dress could have fit a little better and she could have spiced things up with better shoes (something daring maybe). I like her hair though, and I can definetly say she’s looked worse…
I don’t like her look. I think it’s a dress for a relaxed day at home, and not for going out, and even less for the red carpet. It also doesn’t fit with her make up and her shoes, because it’s so casual. It could be a nice dress with the undone look (natural make up, ‘no’ hairstyle etc.).
The two kids in the front have the same expression on their faces as I do. Maybe with a belt this would have worked a little better.
dress -tick, shoes-tick, knobbly bare knees- cross. This outfit could SO have been jazzed up in the simplest of ways with some fun opaque stockings, say navy with red polkadots- or navy with anything. But bare legs come across as beachy. Bare legs can work, but only done with a longer miniskirt and toning shoes, a la Jean Shrimpton at the Melbourne Cup 1965 (see net for details).
Love the dress, hate the shoes. She looks like a teen at the top and like my super-uptight teacher at the feet. If you go casual, go all the way or spice it up.
I guess if you are going to be on the red carpet, people will expect more jazzy stuff, but… maybe I shouldn’t be saying this here but I kind of like her shoes and I think she looks pretty nice…. like a normal thirtysomething human being instead of a plastic doll… gasp!?!?
she’s much too old to be wearing this look. this outfit is much better suited for a teen. it’s a cute ensemble though.
I want a dress like this! And I find most of the red carpet robes pretty awful, so I find it fun that she wore this. But not so sure about the shoes…
i think its a refreshing looking. the funny thing is, she probably had a stylist put that together for her. even her tousled hair is tailored to look disheveled.
