As if the harem pant weren’t controversial enough, Alexander Wang has taken it a step further making it sheer. These chiffon lingerie pants, $450, are a bit confusing. The subtle paper-bag waist, slouchy silhouette and not-too-baggy harem-ness of the pants actually start to convince us that the style is actually rather chic. We can see an old Hollywood screen siren wearing them to bed – as actual lingerie, as the name implies.
But the problem is that people will definitely wear them out in public. Does that become a problem? The opaque boxer-short-like lining bothers us. We understand why it’s there, dear God some modesty is in order. But still…it looks weird, no?

Tame black ankle-strap heels from the front, glitzy glamorous party shoes from the back! We love these shoes Jessica Biel wore to the MTV Movie Awards this weekend with a Giambattista Valli dress. The whole ensemble was very sexy secretary, but these shoes really take the cake. Sadly, we cannot find a fashion credit for the shoes anywhere, but that does not stop us lusting over them.

A classic clutch to accompany your party dress never goes out of fashion. However, a classic clutch can be a bit, well, boring really! To liven up an LBD you need something with some sass about it, something with fun in the details. Maybe something with the potential to make you feel like a child again, clutching your coin purse as you skip to the corner shop for a 10p mix…
Marni’s suede large clasp clutch could set you on the perfect nostalgia kick. Roomy enough for all your “bits” and in super-soft suede for a touch of luxury. And Oh My – is it pretty! You can pick one up from Net-a-Porter for £468

This exists.
We’d say more, but…
… sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words, isn’t it?

At Fashion Police HQ we try to accept that everyone has their own taste and style. Not everything that we put on trial is found guilty; in fact, a great many are reprieved! We know we have to accept that people are different. Some people, for example, are scared of clowns. While others? Like to dress like them.
So, if you’re from the latter camp, god speed to The Outnet where you can get these trousers at 80% dicount, reduced to a tiddly £89. Which, considering their original £445 price tag makes them a total bargain, right?

Like the stripes we discussed earlier this week, the maxi dress is another fashion favourite that tends to start popping up in stores as soon as the weather warms up. Despite their ongoing popularity, however, maxi dresses don’t suit everybody, and if you’re particularly petite, you may feel a bit like you’re drowning in them (that’s assuming you can find one that doesn’t trail along the ground in the first place!).
On the plus side, however, maxi dresses are cool, summery, and a true sign that summer is here at last, so if you’re thinking of trying out the trend, here are some celebrities in maxi dresses to provide some inspiration, kicking off with Liv Tyler and Eva Mendes, above). What do you think of the look in general? Love, hate or simple indifference?
