Fashion Trends: Super-skinny jeans

Don’t worry, we haven’t just cottoned on to the fact that skinny jeans are a little bit popular at the moment: what we’re talking about here is the variation on the style that’s been cropping up over the past few months – the SUPER-skinny jean!

While regular skinnies are close-fitting (some more than others), the super-skinny, as the name suggests, is skintight. Like, really skintight. In the name of fashion research, your Fashion Police officers recently tried on a pair of super-skinnies, and we can report that these babies are as close-fitting as leggings, putting a whole new spin on the “jeggings” trend.

So, what do you think of them? Are you so used to the sight of skinny jeans and leggings that you’re not even remotely phased by the emergence of the super-skinny? Or do you think this is a bad direction for the denim market to be moving in? Tell us!

I’ve been wearing super skinnys since i was 13, which wasn’t that long ago.
3 years in super skinnys, i love them, i wear them religiously!
Seeing as im a boy, super skinnys werent really available, but you lucky women had them.
Primark womens skinnys are a god send!

Rock it, Kadeam! Never lose your independent sense of style. :)

Skinny jeans are stupid. I loath them. My ovaries are where they are supposed to be, thanks. And because of this stupid trend, the only jeans that seem to be in stores are ripped up skinny jeans that look ridiculous. And since I’m small as is, it’s hard to find regular jeans to fit. Straight cut jeans with nothing on them..when can that be “on trend”?
Very little in fashion annoys me like skinnies.

Super-skinnies can look fabulous, but only if you have really nice and skinny legs.
On a person without supermodel-like thin legs, this style looks bad. Bad, bad, bad and a little bit funny.

      I agree 100%
Skinny jeans… quite a few people can pull off.
      But these, only select few.

When will the designers finally start making clothes for women again, and not for stork-legged preteens???!!! I’m sick and tired of the fashion industry trying to tell us that we should all have unnaturally skinny legs. It’s unhealthy and does not look good, dammit! :(

Actually, I have very skinny legs, and I’ve never worn skinny jeans because they make me look like a man. They’re just not flattering.

I hate super skinnies. I don’t really even like skinny jeans on 90% of the population, because most people tend to look awkwardly short and hippy. I think the line should definitely be drawn with regular skinnies, because super skinnies are just as awkwardly revealing as leggings-as-pants.

i just LOVE ‘EM!! But seeing as im 13 and all my friends+me wear them, thats not saying much.

I don’t have a problem with other people wearing them, but I find them so uncomfortable! and they are so tight that they pull on your skin when you walk, so I end up with this weird droopy fabric below my butt where the fabric stretched when I was walking.

I think only a small percentage of the population look good in skinny jeans anyway. Most people end up looking short and fat, and some people end up looking like their legs are *too* long and spindly, like stilts. The people that *can* pull of the skinny jeans can probably wear these well as well, but I don’t like the idea of them continuing to be the “in” thing. I want my bootcuts and flares back, damnit!

Doesn’t matter to me, I’m still in my Levi 518’s bootcuts :-D

Although, as others have said – the majority of the population in skinny jeans = constant “my eyes! my eyes!” moments. DO NOT WANT.

I have a few pairs of skinnies, and the way this discussion is going I suppose I should add that I’m a grown-up. None of my jeans are super-skinny, though, and I’m not a fan of the super-skinny look, but hey – to each their own…

I would definitely try these on at least. I’m a size 14, but don’t have really big legs, so skinny jeans are never really skinny on me. It’s so frustrating, so I’d love to see if these work better on me. I can’t quite bring myself to buy jeggings (*shudder*), so these would be a happy medium.

They’ve been a trend at my school for years. The problem is, they only look good on tall, skinny, supermodel types. The people at my school are not tall, skinny, supermodel types. Hell, even I look weird in them and I’m a size 0-2! They were made for a very, very specific body type.

Super skinnies are great for petite/curveless people like myself who can’t fit into regular skinnies because of the wrong proportions. I’ve gotten two pairs and they look like regular skinnies on me. I would recommend getting them in a softer denim because those are comfortable; they feel like leggings but will not give the camel-toe effect.

I’m with Amee. I’m so sick of skinny jeans, leggings, jeggings etc. It’s so difficult to find jeans that fit properly that aren’t skinny jeans, which I hate. They’re unflattering and uncomfortable and after all this time they’ve been around, I still think the way they cling to the calves and ankles doesn’t look right. If other people want to wear them, fine, but I wish shops would stock more bootcut/straight leg jeans. I really need some new ones but I can never find anything.

With super skinny jeans, wouldn’t that mean super muffins, if you get what I mean.

I’m pretty curvy but still a size 8, so not only do skinny jeans not fit (anything being fitting around the leg not making it over my hips) but they make me look weirdly disproportionate. A hideous look!

Only a few people can pull it off.

Skinny jeans are okay (I still prefer boot-cut), but this is taking it way too far.

I’ve been wearing regular skinny jeans religiously and I reckon I’d give super skinnies a try too. But I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t bring myself to wear any other jean style. I am scared to put on a boot cut again. So silly, I know.

oy vey already the population is in skinny jeans (mostly a bit larger folks who are trapped in ‘trendy’ and don’t want to dress their figure the right way) so i can see myself loosing my appetite. i have nothing against skinny jeans (i own multiple pairs myself and love them) but you have to have a balance ontop…nothing skin-tight. you need something looser yet still fitting. and we all know no one is going to obey that law.

I love my skinny jeans, but super skinny’s just look a little bit painful, and like they’d make you look bow-legged with fat thighs. It’s the tightness around the ankle that puts me off, it would make your legs look short.

Well fashion is SUPPOSED to be for models, right? So of course only size 0s would be flattered in these jeans! And, oh yes, IN MY CLIQUE WE’RE ONLY ALLOWED TO WEAR SUPER-SKINNY JEANS.

Thighs… enough said. I want my classic jeans back! I’m a mom with some curves for god sake!
