Ah, the meeting of tulle and trench! Can it ever really work? Can a functional garment be created from the marriage of prom dress and overcoat? Well, Topshop have given it their best shot, creating this tulle hem trench coat, which probably won’t be a whole lot of use in the rain, but will allow you to waft around the streets on your way to work/school feeling a bit like you’re at a cocktail party, albeit one where no one’s bothered to actually remove their outerwear.
What do you think of this idea, readers? Does it seem like something you’d wear? If so, it’s £80 at Topshop.

This is what the dancers would wear in a ballet adaptation of Columbo.
Tehe…you just gave me my giggle for the day!!
I like it, but I can’t imagine where it would ever be appropriate.
Same as Amee. I wish I could find a place to wear something like that.
Hmm, I like it, School would be pretty cool. I don’t know what I would wear underneath it though…
Would you even have to wear something underneath it?
Maybe not the most wearable item, but kinda cute.

Isn’t that an extreme example of stuck-together clothes? I do like it though.
Oh it’s really awful! I can’t even think of one redeeming feature! Oh dear topshop – and you were doing so well with your coats this season!

OMG! I LOVE!!! The straight shape and the pretty tulle in an unusual color, and the lines on the skirt, and the lines at the very top. Sooo cunning.
But I don’t know what you would wear with it. I don’t actually care
. Probably just as a dress, or open with a plain t-shirt underneath, and with black or brown accessories and maybe hose . . .
Hmm, I don’t hate it, but for me it falls into the ‘why-don’t-you-buy-these-two-items-seperately-then-wear-them-together’ category.
I think it’s awkward to have a jacket with a skirt on it! So, why not buy a cropped trench jacket, and a taupe tulle tunic, and just wear them together? It just makes more sense!
Gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘Frockcoat’.
There’s something about it that I like.. hmmmm
Throw in a pocketwatch and a pair of goggles and I’d say it’s very steampunk!
