Designer Vs High Street: Zara’s Miu Miu inspired cat-print dress and bird-print body

zara cat print dress1 Designer Vs High Street: Zaras Miu Miu inspired cat print dress and bird print bodyLoving Miu Miu’s quirky cat and swallow print designs this season? Hating Miu Miu’s traditionally super-high prices? Don’t worry: once again, Zara has come to the rescue with a couple of designer-inspired pieces at a slightly more wallet-friendly price. This little cat-print dress retails for $40 (although it’s selling on eBay for much more, which suggests you may have your work cut-out finding it in store), and our officers also spotted some swallow-print pieces at the Spanish chain this weekend: bird-print body-suit anyone? If the answer to that was a resounding “yes”, you can take a look at the items at Zara’s website, although there’s still no sign of that much-anticipated online store. Come on Zara, what are we waiting for?

  1. Strangely enough, that cat print reminds me less of the recent Miu Miu prints, and more of shirt I got from H&M three or four years ago. The cats with bow ties print is basically the exact same, although the H&M version is a little more like a tessellation and came in different colors.

  2. I love the print but really wish the Zara dress had a more flattering cut. When I tried it on in the store the dress ended up being baggy and shapeless on me :( (Then again, there’s little fashion seems to hate more than a short girl with a big bust)

  3. You know, the name Miu Miu always reminded me of a cute little fashionable kitten…but not the old cat woman across the street! Maybe (and that is a big Maybe) Miu Miu could’ve made the print work by giving the dress a flattering shape, but that shape is anything but flattering. ‘sigh’ Top Designers can get away with ALMOST anything…but my whiskers aren’t tickled by this design…
