Yes, wanted internationally for making shoppers love to hate and hate to love them, American accessories behemoth Coach is coming to the U.K. and France in the next 12 months. Arriving first in France via their Printemps department store, those in the U.K. can look out for a London flagship amongst other locations soon after.
Like many handbag brands, Coach often does best when it keeps its logo small and unobtrusive, like on the Floral Embroidery Audrey Bag above, $498. If even this pearlized Nappa leather is too much for you, there is a lovely classic version in cowhide leather for $398. The brand is definitely best positioned to avoid the Fashion Police when they stick to their classic, ladylike silhouettes and finishes.
Got a burning fashion question that only The Fashion Police can help you with? Of course you don’t: you’re fabulous! Just in case you do have any style queries for us, though, we’ve set up a Formspring account, which allows you to post your questions and get our answers: and because we know our opinions aren’t the only ones out there, we’ll post some of your questions on the site, too, to find out what the rest of our readers think, too!
To get started, simply type your question into the box you’ll find in our sidebar shortly, or click here to visit our profile. All we ask is that you keep it clean, and keep it courteous…
Oh dear. Well, this is awkward, isn’t it? And we know it may not be the politically correct thing to say, but this Calvin Klein dress… it’s kinda deformed, no? Imagine wearing it to a party, for instance: anyone you stopped to chat to would be standing there thinking, “Must. Not. Look. At. The. Hump. Must. Not. Look. At. The. Swelling.” Secretly, though, they wouldn’t be able to take their eyes off it, thinking, “What IS it? IS it a colostomy bag? Is she pregnant with an alien? WHAT?” And the kicker is, you’d have paid £1,860 /$2846 to make people think you were in some kind of delicate-yet-mysterious condition, too!
Or, of course, maybe that’s just us? Maybe everyone else would look at this dress and simply see a “fashion forward silhouette”, as Net-a-Porter put it, and nothing to speculate about at all? Would they? Would YOU? In other words: what do you think of this dress?
We’ve all been there – the sun makes its first appearance of the year and, in celebration, we over-indulge in our good friends, Ben and Jerry. Suddenly we’re aware that bikini season is on its merry way – and there’s nothing for it but to hit the gym.
But what should one wear to workout this season? How about some of these delightful hareem joggers from Dorothy Perkins? (£20)
We challenge any amongst you to pull these beautifully cut pants on, check yourself out in the gym’s full-length mirrors and not want to work-out that little bit harder to get rid of that deceptively large-looking rear, those tree-trunk thighs and protruding belly… Because that’s just what these joggers will make of your figure, no matter how svelte you are to begin with!
Of course, Dorothy Perkins don’t suggest you actually wear these to work out in (heavens no!). They suggest pairing them with a white vest tee and grey strappy heels. What do you think – could you pull this “fresh-from-my-workout” look off, or should these pants stay buried in the gym bag where they belong?
Tina Fey and Sheryl Crow found themselves in a Same Dress Situation last night, when they both turned up to the Matrix Awards wearing very similar floral dresses. Although these dresses are both by Dolce & Gabbana, they’re not actually identical: the patterns are subtly different, and while Tina’s dress has a v-neck, Sheryl’s has a higher cut.
With that said, we don’t think there’s much to choose between the two, and both women look fantastic here. Who’s your winner in the Star Style War?
Yep, you read that right. Sexy raffia. How this basket weave material best known for Grandma’s porch furniture was crafted into a shoe Dita Von Teese would envy we haven’t the resources to investigate. But Donna Karan seems to have done it. Sure, there have been somewhat stylish raffia shoes in the past, but they were decidedly beachy and casual. Taking it to this level (5.5 inches, to be exact) is pretty impressive.
Speaking of resources, we’re a bit low on the $795 these babies cost. But if you like them you can get the Donna Karan peep-toe raffia pumps at Net-a-Porter. If you don’t, you know where the comment box is…
Next don’t actually call this a sweater-stuck-to-skirt dress, we added that bit ourselves, but in essence that is exactly what it is. They also have it listed under ‘knitwear and cardigans’ further leading us to believe that it is not a dress at all. But OK Next, if you insist on calling it a sweater dress you go ahead and we’ll humour you.
We quite like the combination of the sweater and the skirt, but we think we’d prefer it if we had the option to wear the sweater with whatever bottoms we wanted. Also to have the option to take it off if we got warm. And that’s probably a good reason not to buy this and to put an actual sweater over a real skirt to avoid such embarrassing scenarios as having to admit that you can’t take off your sweater because it is stuck to your skirt.
But what do you think? Would you rather buy a 2-in-1 sweater-and-skirt, or buy the two things separately? If you like the sweater dress, it’s available in Regular, Tall and Petite sizes and you can buy it here for £45. .
