Bad hair day, Melissa George? This would certainly be one way to solve it, but somehow we think this is more style-statement than anything else. Or perhaps she just had really cold ears?
It’s fairly unusual to see hats worn to formal events these days, so what do you think of this look from Melissa? Would you like to see more headgear on the red carpets of the world?
Even so, we’re starting to think it’s time The Fashion Police producted some kind of Statute on the Acceptable Use of Animal Print. The first point could be: NOT ON A PROM DRESS, for the love of Gaga, no!
What do you think, readers? Would you wear this to prom? If you would, you can head over here and buy it.
This week saw the release of Miss Selfridge’s new ‘Gossip Girl’ themed collection. This is a collaboration with the show, and the pieces are based on some of the designs used by Gossip Girl stylist, Eric Daman.
Each item here has been made with one of the show’s leading ladies in mind. Are you a Jenny, Blair, Serena or Vanessa? Take a look at the Miss Selfridge website to find out – but don’t forget to come back and tell us what you think!
You know, we can almost get on board with clothes that are ugly-but-comfortable. (We said sometimes, calm down at the back there!). Sometimes you just want to slip into something comfortable, don’t you? But these. These aren’t just ugly: they also make us start to squirm in discomfort, and that’s just from looking at them. And sure, it may well be that once you’re wearing them they’ll be as comfortable as an old pair of PJs, but the fact is, they’ll still look like a spectacularly ill-fitting pair of jeans, won’t they?
And they’ll have cost you $248, too. Get them here if none of this puts you off…
Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) fame, always looks to us like she’s just stepped right out of the pages of a fairytale. She has a style of dressing that’s just very “her”, and we have to admire her flair for the dramatic, which is exactly what we expect from our rock stars!
With that said, Florence IS wearing a lace “demi-shress” which can’t seem to make up its mind whether it’s a mini or a maxi. It would probably earn anyone else a Fashion Police citation, at the very least, but on Florence, well, it seems to work. Or does it?
We maintain this isn’t actually a dress. It’s a long top with a lace bottom. We’re also not digging the way the top half is designed to look like it’s about to fall off, revealing the bra underneath.
Still, at least there IS a bra underneath. And knickers. Sometimes you have to be grateful for small mercies…
Dresses that are the same colour as your skin are always going to be tricky to get right, but we actually really like this look on Rooney Mara, who has kept things pale and interesting here, but somehow manages NOT to look like she’s haunting the place. She’s also done a great job of picking out shoes: love those nude Louboutins!
We also rather like the idea of a sweet-and-innocent look like this being worn to the premiere of a horror movie! What do you think?
