Are we the only ones who are over the punk thing now? Call us old fashioned, but when we fork out €1.249,00 for a dress we expect it to stay together of its own accord. We don’t want it held together with safety pins!
Joking aside, there are many things we like about this dress: the colour would be lovely on the right complexion, and the shift shape is an office classic. But those sparkly safety pins are just so tacky looking – they give the impression of a sort of punk Barbie hybrid! Versace are clearly revisiting their own archive with this one (remember the safety pin dress made famous by Liz Hurley in the 90s?) but is this one design that should have stayed in the archive, do you think, or is punk Barbie right up your street? this looks like the kind of thing a high society trophy wife would wear on halloween to be “punk” (i can’t type punk without the quotes as nothing about the above outfit is actually punk lol…i mean the only black on it is the tag, it doesn’t have stripes, plaid or animal print and the safety pins have sparklies)
Punk doesn’t have to be the things you listed..but I’d have to agree. No true punk would wear something like this.

oh i know…punk is/was all about DIY, pushing the envelope, flaunting a bit of gritty sexiness in your own way and all that…the “standards of the punk uniform” i listed were certainly tongue in cheek…the take away was what you got from it

This was used in a Teen Vogue photo shoot a month or two ago, and I thought it was daylight robbery then!
Those are more like kilt pins than safety pins.
Not a fan. I’ve never liked the safety pin look. Aren’t those things meant to hold up cloth diapers/nappies?

I love the way Kathrine Erwin used this dress in the latest issue of NYLON (July 2010). This photograph doesn’t do this dress any sort of justice in the least.
I like it but I’d buy a cheaper basic black, red or purple dress and DIY it.
