Style on Trial: Keira Knightleys naked ladies Miu Miu outfit

We’ve read conflicting reviews of the Miu Miu outfit Keira  Knightley wore to  The Laurence Olivier Awards Nominees Luncheon Party this week, with some people horrified by the nude women depicted on the shirt and skirt, and others thinking Keira looked perfectly stylish and wonderfully… wait for it… “edgy”. We, however, are only interested in what YOU think, dear readers, so you’ll find some close-ups under the jump to help you decide whether Keira is innocent or guilty of committing crimes of fashion!

  1. Oh, Keira, Keira, you are too classy for these shenanigans. Put the naked-lady clothes down and back away slowly.

  2. You know, she pretty much just looks like a flight attendant with naked ladies all over her for some reason. Which strikes me as an odd choice.

That said, I think the outfit itself, sans nudity, suits her. I would like it maybe if the print was only on the skirt, where it looks sufficiently abstract.

  3. I think I love it. Yes, they’re definitely naked ladies, they’re stylized, pretty naked ladies on nicely cut and tailored pieces, and overall it looks both artsy and elegant. This is what “edgy” should mean – playfully nudging the boundaries of social convention, as opposed to “Oops, I’ve laddered my tights, and I forgot to wash my hair.”

  4. It reminds me of the sort of tie (probably of the kipper variety) that skeezy men in the seventies would have worn in an attempt to appear “edgy”.

  5. Naked ladies and all aside, i can’t stop thinking that the outfit looks a kinda… FRUMPY! Which is not something one should think when dealing with naked ladies print…. Perhaps it’s the cut of the suit, or the colour combination, or the shoes. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

  6. Love her and her outfit! I think the ladies are an interesting touch to the outfit. And the sleeves! Perfect. I also think the shoes fit well with her whole look.

  7. I think it’s ugly with or without the naked women on it….looks outdated, almost illfitting, and the colors are blah for me too. The shoes are awful too…..

  8. Not a fan of the shoes and I would have preferred if she had stuck to one printed item, but other than that, I think the outfit looks good on her. Then again, I am a huge fan, so I might be biased.

  9. I do like it, even though I don’t really love head-to-toe of anything.
I like her shoes but i’m having a hard time deciding if having the skirt AND shirt together really /work/….something tells me it kind of does but something tells me it doesn’t? eh. oh well. I suppose I do like it. :)

  10. I actually think it’s the best she’s looked in ages. It’s very playful and I love the sleeves. I never see her in anything but awards gowns and this is a nice change.

  11. I rather like it. I wasn’t sure about the naked ladies aspect until I saw the close-up picture, and they’re better than I expected. There have been many, many worse things printed on clothes. I don’t really mind them.

Boobies aside, I think the whole think is understated but rather chic, and I’m quite enamoured with that style of sleeve.

  12. I’m not even upset about the naked women. They would be perfectly fine if it weren’t for how hideous the actual outfit is. She looks like a poor school girl from the 1950s wearing heinous shoes.

  13. Edgy how? I mean the nakedness doesn’t offend me but from far away you can’t tell the exact print and it just looks like an old lady outfit.

  14. Give her some Bettie Page bangs and bright red lipstick and she’s all set to go to a rockabilly revival show. A la the Reverend Horton Heat or similar.

  15. I absolutely love this whole Miu Miu collection. The naked lady print is my favorite print of them all. The only this is I think the shirt is too small for her. The armholes look way to tught and that’s why its bunching up below the shoulders. Another this is she should’ve buttoned the shirt all the way, which is how it was meant to be worn. One more thing is the skirt is to big for her. She should’ve have got 1 size bigger in the shirt and 1 size bigger in the skirt.
Other than that i love every aspect of this outfit.
