Style on Trial: ‘Your Biggest Fan’ jacket by Sass & Bide
Clothes with backs: they’re just so passé, aren’t they? Mind you, we think the term “jacket” is a bit of a stretch for this Sass & Bide creation, which, from the back, looks more like a couple of sleeves held together with elastic. From the front it’s a little more jacket-like, but is it ENOUGH like a jacket to make you want to buy and wear it? We think it looks a bit like a back to front shrug, but that’s just us: what do YOU think? It claims to be your biggest fan, but are you IT’S biggest fan? Tell us!

Maison Martin Margiela’s “leggings with boot”: not quite what you’d expect
Our fashion crime radar started buzzing uncontrollably when we read the product description of these leggings. “Leggings with boot?” we thought. “It’s finally happened. Someone has finally decided to attach trousers to shoes, and that person is Martin Margiela. We might have known!”
Margiela isn’t quite the criminal we suspected, though, because the “boot” in question isn’t the footwear variety, but is, in fact, simply a massive turn-up, that reaches all the way to the knee (and possibly beyond, depending on how tall you are.) So it’s not a REAL boot, but it does make the mannequin in the photo above LOOK like she’s wearing boots: and peep toe ones, at that!
What do we think of this, readers? It’s definitely better than sticking random items of clothing together, of course, but do you still want us to throw these in the slammer anyway?

Wanted: Tory Burch Embossed Turquoise Patent Coin Purse
Our sirens start blaring whenever we see a hot turquoise item this spring! This Tory Burch embossed turquoise patent coin purse, $95, is a great way to add a splash of the trendy color to any outfit. It would also make a great transitional item, adding a bit of summer style to your look even though it doesn’t seem to be very summery either in the UK or Northeastern US right now! (That’s right, our squad has gone international!)
We are sometimes suspect of logo-stamped items, but the way the famous TB logo is subtly embossed here helps it avoid a tacky charge. It’s small size is also convenient for the summer and holidays when you just want to carry some cash to the pool or beach.

Meet The Fashion Police!
Hi everyone, it’s your Chief of Police here!
You may have noticed some new names appearing at the bottom of our posts recently: these are our new Fashion Police officers, who join us this week to assist with our case files, and so I thought it might be nice to introduce you to, from left to right, Fi, Andrea and Caroline ! (Oh, and that’s me on the end, with the police dog. I haven’t deserted you…)
Welcome aboard to the new recruits: may they apprehend many fashion criminals in their time on the fashion force!

Would you wear… socks and stilettos, like Rihanna?
We’ve pretty much established by now that Rihanna dances to the beat of her own drum when it comes to her sartorial choices, so today we want to ask you about one particular aspect of her most recent red carpet outfit, namely this “ankle socks and stilettos” look, which she wore to the Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kid’s Choice Awards this week.
This look isn’t unique to Rihanna, of course (although she’s put her own spin on it here by mixing her metallics, with silver socks and gold shoes): its something we see pop up fairly often in fashion editorials, on street style blogs, and possibly in real life too, although admittedly this isn’t something we’ve ever seen in the vicinity of the Fashion Police HQ.
What do you think of it, though? Should ankle socks and stilettos only be thrown together on the bodies of the very young, and very confident (like Rihanna, for instance)? Should they be thrown together AT ALL? Are they something you’d wear?
