Style Challenge: What to Wear with Vivienne Westwood’s Rocking Horse shoes?

rocking horse shoes1 Style Challenge: What to Wear with Vivienne Westwoods Rocking Horse shoes?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s one of Vivienne Westwood’s Rocking Horse shoes, and it’s the subject of our latest Style Challenge, in which we want you to use Polyvore to build an outfit around these shoes. Sounds simple enough, no? Oh. No, you’re right, it doesn’t sound simple, but of course, that’s the whole point!

This Style Challenge was the suggestion of Rock Hyrax and, like her, we’re really curious to see what you’ll make of these shoes (which, by the way, you can buy at My-Wardrobe, if you so desire).

You’ll find the rules under the jump: please take a moment to have a quick look over them before creating your outfit!

Style Challenge: The Rules:

1. Log-in to Polyvore (you may need to create an account first, if you don’t already have one)

2. You’ll find the shoes here. Build your outfit around them, save it and then…

3. Post a link to your completed outfit in the comments on this post.

4. Please note: you’re free to post links to as many outfits as you like, but please be aware that we’ll only post one entry per person. You can let us know which one you’d like us to use if you wish – if you don’t specify one, we’ll just choose the first one posted.

5. Once you’ve posted your link, please double check it to make sure it’s working properly – we get a lot of people posting links to the Polyvore home page, so we don’t get to see your outfit!

6. Comments on this entry will close on Monday, at around midday GMT. Once the comments are closed, we won’t be able to accept any further entries, so make sure you get yours in early!

  1. Thanks to fashion police, i’ve become obsessed with Polyvore! I just had to do this challenge.

  2. I think these shoes are a look for someone young, so I went with a late teen/early 20′s look.

  3. Bellbottoms is what to wear these shoes with. That way they won’t be seen while you’re busy covering your face and being ushered into a Fashion Police Squad Car.

  4. For the love of God! I am not coming any NEAR this challenge! I hate those shoes with passion and i would hate them to appear in my sets. After all, I have a Polyvore reputation to defent :P

  5. Found the shoes, and here’s my set. Tried to soften it up, with a bit of a romantic-meets-bad-girl vibe.

  7. These are, quite possibly, the ugliest shoes I have ever clapped eyes on. I have no pretension whatsoever of my set being wearable; interpret it as a modern take on the outfit of choice of a 15 year old grunge fan in, say, 1992. And even then, don’t look at them clogs.

  8. yuuuuck, these are ugly.
    probably the hardest challenge yet!
but here’s what I came up with:

  9. I took the name of these shoes and ran with it and had a lot of fun with the theme of this set, despite hating the shoes (obviously :-P ).

  11. I absolutely loved this challenge! http://www.polyvore.com/rocking_horse_platform_wedge_vivienne/set?id=15993694

  12. The wings reminded me of Hermes (the god, not the brand), so I went with a Greek motif.

  13. I kinda like these shoes… can’t explain why, though.

im trying to figure out which one to use..

  16. Here’s mine! I actually like the shoes (though I think they’d be kind of hard to pull off) but I’m a fan of Vivienne Westwood >__<

They’re actually really interesting shoes, not that I’d wear them.

  18. These shoes are absolutely impossible to style while still looking classy. Oy.

  19. Really?

    http://www.polyvore.com/history_art_class/set?id=16024277

I feel like you have to be a super art college student to wear such interesting shoes

  20. I actually meant to ask in my previous post when ya’ll all take on the challenges do you pick items that are affordable for yourself or do you just coordinate? I pretty much just pick what I like then I realized some items are like $1000+.

    • I liked this one! Check mine out and let me know what you think please! It’s my first one!
      .-= Annie´s last blog ..Wings =-.

    • :) If I were to stick with items I could afford, I’d be clipping stuff from the Walmart website.

    • I just coordinate & pick things I think look good together, even if I could never afford them.

this is definitely for a try-hard-wants-to-be-grungy-hates-dirt-one-hit-wonder-making-her-appearence-never-heard-again pop princess

If you’re going to wear winged rubbed shoes, then the fairground carousel seems the obvious place for them. Or somewhere where you can be equally whimsical.

    Tricky.
