Pencey Knot Leggings: for really hot knees

These Are Not Leggings

OK, we think there must be a spelling error in the product description on these: Shopbop has them down as “knot leggings”, but surely they must mean “not leggings”. Because they’re not, are they? Leggings, that is. Sure, they probably USED to be leggings. But when the terrible series of events that caused them to end up with NO KNEES happened, they ceased to be “leggings” as we know them, and became simple “crimes of fashion.” Sad.

Oh, and what would you wear with your Knot Leggings, readers? Why, you’d wear your peep-toe boots of course! OF COURSE.

The Hoodie Dress from Next: yes, it’s a hoodie stuck to a dress!

I'd take off my hoodie, but... then I'd be naked

So, last week, some of you indicated that you were actually OK with the idea of a waistcoat stuck to a shirt. So we’re upping the ante. What do you think of the idea of a hoodie stuck to a dress, readers? Yes, you heard us: it’s a hoodie… but it’s also a dress! We can just imagine the scenario now:

“Oh, hi, come in! Can I take your sweatshirt?”

“Umm, no thanks.”

“Oh, come on, you must be warm: make yourself comfortable!”

“Umm, I’d maybe be a little too comfortable, if you know what I mean…”

“As in…?”

“I’d be sitting here in my underwear.”

“Oh. Gosh, is that the time…?”

MM6 Maison Martin Margiela stretch ‘Zori’ boots: or “Socks attached to flip flops”, as we call them

Stuck-Together Daylight Robbery

These criminals were reported to us by Robyn, who says: “Anyone else think that $380 is too much to pay for what is basically a sock attached to a foot bed? Anyone think calling this a “boot” is quite the stretch, dear Tobi? Because I do.”

We do too, Robyn. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And we’re actually quite concerned about this, because where do we even start? It’s a sock stuck to a flip-flop. It’s a boot pretending to be a shoe. It’s a peep toe boot. It’s Daylight Robbery. It’s sock horror! It’s all these crimes of fashion, rolled into one, and you just never know where that kind of experiment will end, do you? A peep-toe harem pant attached to Crocs with a $1 million price tag, perhaps? The mind boggles.

Style Challenge: What to Wear with Vivienne Westwood’s Rocking Horse shoes?

rocking horse shoes1 Style Challenge: What to Wear with Vivienne Westwoods Rocking Horse shoes?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s one of Vivienne Westwood’s Rocking Horse shoes, and it’s the subject of our latest Style Challenge, in which we want you to use Polyvore to build an outfit around these shoes. Sounds simple enough, no? Oh. No, you’re right, it doesn’t sound simple, but of course, that’s the whole point!

This Style Challenge was the suggestion of Rock Hyrax and, like her, we’re really curious to see what you’ll make of these shoes (which, by the way, you can buy at My-Wardrobe, if you so desire).

You’ll find the rules under the jump: please take a moment to have a quick look over them before creating your outfit!

The unholy alliance of skirts and shorts, by Rick Owens

rick owens skirt shorts The unholy alliance of skirts and shorts, by Rick OwensSo, we guess these are probably what you’d call “skorts” – in other words, a combination of a skirt and a pair of shorts. The “skorts” we’re used to seeing, however, are different from this, in that they generally have the skirt part at the front and the shorts at the back. Rick Owens has basically turned the concept on its head here, putting the shorts at the front, with the skirt dangling at the back, like a train on a dress. Or like a mullet.

Is this what the world has been waiting for, readers? Or is it just an attempt to try and detract us all from those shoes? Oh God, THOSE SHOES…

The Ultimate Scrolldown

Sometimes it’s good to wear something totally unexpected with that slinky little black dress.

Not this time, though.

(Sadly, we have no idea where you can buy these boots, or who makes them. The dress, however, is by Brian Lichtenberg, and is available at Alex & Chloe.)
