We showed you Danni Minogue’s National TV Awards outfit earlier today, so now here’s her X Factor co-star, Cheryl Cole, in a dress that’s a little more sophisticated than the kind of thing she usually goes for. This dress is by Stéphane Rolland, and what we at first thought was a large amount of silver bracelets on each of Cheryl’s wrists actually turns out to be cuffs in the same fabric as the dress itself.
We tend to think Cheryl Cole would look good in pretty much anything, but what do you think of this outfit?
Anyone want to wear a pair of plain old court shoes, with some chunky ankle socks attached to them? No? What if we told you they were by Dolce & Gabbana? OK, well, what if they were bright purple? Still not convinced? What if they were reduced to £149 in the sale? Would you buy them THEN? Or would you continue to uphold one of The Fashion Police’s founding creeds: that shoes and socks should not be stuck together. Or any other items, come to think of it.
If you disagree, however, these are waiting for you now over at Yoox.com.
Amy Winehouse has been in trouble with the real-life police this week, but The Fashion Police aren’t letting her off scot-free, either: Amy, we know you love your ballet pumps (and your new boobs), but do you really think this was an appropriate outfit to wear to court?
Amy was in court pleading guilty to assaulting someone at the pantomime this Christmas. We swear to God, we couldn’t make this up. She was given a two-year conditional discharge, and was ordered to pay a fine for damages. Was she guilty of crimes of fashion, too, though? What do you think?
Who says horizontal stripes don’t work? We’ve never bought into that particular fashion rule (although we do agree that they should be used with caution), and we think Danni Minogue, seen here at the National Television Awards in London last night, is the proof that stripes can look fantastic: especially when worn with those gorgeous red parent shoes!
Congratulations to Danni, who’s just announced that she’s expecting her first child this year. And congratulations too, for the great dress! What do you think, readers?
This item was reported to us by an anonymous reader who probably wanted to try and dissociate themselves from what they described as “the most unflattering dress ever made”. Oh, come now: you know Martin Margiela and Comme des Garcons will just read that as a challenge!
Has Alexander Wang succeeded in making one of the most unflattering dresses ever? Well, we certainly think it’s up there, but if you disagree, you can buy it here.
It’s part two of our latest Style Challenge, so here are some more of your suggestions on how to wear shorts in the winter! Take a look at the entries, tell us what you think, and don’t forget to vote for your favourite outfit in the poll you’ll find at the end of the post!
