On Trial: Haute Hippie Dress

As regular readers will know, stickĀ a flower on something and The Fashion Police will generally like it: and the bigger the flower, the better.

We think we may have finally met our match with this Haute Hippie dress, however, which makes this poor Shopbop model look like she just won first prize in some kind of bizarre contest run by giants. And it’s a shame, because it’s one of those cases where we feel like we SHOULD like it, but… we don’t.

What about you? Do you find this dress guilty or innocent of crimes of fashion? If you think it’s innocent of all charges, better get saving: it’s $985 at Shopbop.

  1. The dress reminds me of Carrie of Sex and the City – it looks like it would have been totally her style.
But actually, it looks like it’s good to hide your not-so-flat belly :-)

  2. I like it! I think it just looks wierd because of the picture, the model, hairstyle, outfit, etc. (it kind of overtakes her small frame) I think it could look really nice though, definitely not a fashion criminal!

  3. i am not digging this dress…the giant flower ruins it for me
i guess “tone it down” or “less is more” were not phrases the haute hippie people subscribed to
on a silly note…can you picture the size of the bee that would pollinate that thing lol

  4. To me this looks like it is actually a long skirt, which the model pulled up under her arms because she had no top to go with it… that’s why her breasts look so flat.
I like the intention behind this dress, but somehow it just didn’t turn out good.
