Mary Katrantzou dress Style on Trial: Mary Katrantzou silk roll neck dress

Our gut instinct: when a dress could be mistaken for a bottle of perfume from a distance, it’s probably a crime of fashion.

In the interests of giving it a fair trial, however, we put it you, ladies and gentlemen of the Fashion Police jury: IS this a crime of fashion? Or do you actually kinda like it? (If you do, it’s £785 at Browns.)

  1. Most Couturiers make their money by selling perfumes anyway, not by selling clothes, so why shouldn’t they make clothes looking like perfumes? It’s just them being honest.

  2. not what i pictured at all from the description as a silk roll-neck dress….maybe the silk eau de 36-26-36 toilette would have been more accurate lol…although the cut of the top there might make it the 46-26-36 toilette dress…would love to see it on someone

  3. It’s actually supposed to look like just that, a perfume bottle. Her AW09 collection was digital prints of perfume bottles reworked :) I rather like some of the pieces but this is not one of them.
